is it worth taking out mortgage protection cover?

dh works for the council and with all these cuts I'm nervous. I work p/t not earning much. we have a mortgage. can anyonw advise on MPPI? has anyone used it when made redundant? any advice welcome, thanks

Read the fine print, with all the exclusions and delays (I think you need several months of no income before you can start claiming, typically), it well may not be worth it.

We had it and it was a godsend when we faced redundancy last year and in the year that followed before my husband got another job. It paid out immediately and the cover was for a year max. Well worth ahving in our opinion and we received well in excess of what had been paid in. On top of that there was help and support available during the year from careers advisers etc Ours was from Aviva - extrememly courteous and sensitive =can't prais ethem highly enough
