I'm a freelance journalist and have been provisionally been offered the opportunity to do some book reviews for a magazine. The editor said to look out for books I would like to review and then send her details of a few and she'd pick one that sounded up her street so to speak.

Having never done book reviews before I'm completely clueless about various aspect of it Blush - will book publishers be happy to send me lists of their forthcoming releases? and if I'm offered the chance to review one will they just send me a copy?

Thanks all,

Obviously what I meant was "anyone with knowledge" and "how do I" - and I work with words for a living...Blush

Just email the publishers explaining who you are and asking for proof copies for review.

If you buy The Bookseller, they list new publications for 3 months ahead, and it's useful for this purpose.
