Don't you have to be working for the company 20something weeks before Mat leave for Mat pay?

I'm sure someone will know.

starlover · 30/08/2005 20:29

26 weeks i think, and 15 weeks before you will start maternity leave... or something like that

starlover · 30/08/2005 20:30

but you may be entitled to maternity allowance? i don't know anything about that

goldenoldie · 30/08/2005 20:55

Check your company policy. Some companies are very generous and will pay you maternity pay without a 'qualifying' period.

MrsBigD · 30/08/2005 21:15

Hi Mandymoo,
I think you might just be in the qualifying period... when I started my job I was already pregnant with dd so didn't qualify so only got Statutory Maternity Pay.

I got pregnant with ds 2 months after I started work at a new place and qualified for maternity pay through the company.

go to here you should be able to find some info

or here

Hi MM, to qualify for Mat Pay, you need to have been employed by the company for 26 weeks at the 15th week before the ewc. When is your baby due, and I can find out if you would be due pay or not. Also, you need to be earning over *2 per week to qualify for SMP; if you are earning under this, then you would only get a Maternity Allowance payable by the Benefits Agency.
Have a look at www.babyworld.co.uk as they have got a whole load of Q and A's about it.
Good luck with everything.

Hi MM, you will probably just about be ok based on that. When you have a clearer ides of due date, go on to tiger.gov.uk and in to the maternity section, and you can plug in the dates and see what comes up.
