public hols during maty leave - NHS

I'm due to return to work in October after a year off on maty leave. I know that I'll have accrued annual leave during this time - which I'll have to take before end April next year.

I'm sure I've read on here that I should also accrue the public hols which have fallen during my time off? Is this right?

If you are usually entitled to take bank hols off in addition to annual leave then yes, these will have accrued during your Mat leave.

Can my employer contract out of this though if I am already getting more than the statutory minimum of holidays?

Terms are as when you went on mat leave.

Yes, if you are under AfC you will get all the BHs that fell while you were on mat leave. If you hvae a full year you'll get 8

Really Stealth? I couldn't find anything in the handbook about public hols - only annual leave? Thanks though - I'll chase that up!

This could explain why I have more holiday left to take on my return to work in Jan :)
