Now's the time when I need to let work know what my plans are for returning. My job is full time and I asked to return on a temporary part time basis for the first two months. It was bluntly refused - I was at least expecting some negotiations. I don't know what to do now. I haven't taken my full mat leave entitlement but I don't want to sour relations by saying "well now I'm not coming back until January then, ner ner ner ner"
What's the best way forward now? I just can't manage being thrown back into full time right from the start but more importantly I want my DC to settle into his new place and spend a bit more time with him.
The reason I wanted to go back a bit earlier rather than taking my ful entitlement is because I know the person who has been covering my job is useless and my other colleague has been getting really stressed & hacked off at picking up the slack. I don't want to make things worse for him or risk him leaving too and then not having anyone who can let me know what's been going on for the past year!
Anyone been in a similar situation or can anyone offer any advice about what would be the est step forward now?
