maternity leave after returning to work

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice?

I am currently on maternity leave, receiving Maternity Allowance as I fell pregnant the week before starting my new job last year (Oops!).

I am taking the full 39 paid weeks of MA, which ends on 19/9/2010. I will then be on annual leave for 4 weeks, and return doing 4 days a week on 18/10/10.

We were originally planning to have a couple of years in between children, but owing to some change in circumstances have decided not to wait and to have another baby.

My question is, will I be entitled to maternity pay this time. I still have my implanon in at the moment, it is being removed on Monday, so I will in all likelihood not be pregnant when I return to work in October.

I work for the NHS and I think I will meet their terms for occupational maternity pay - I will have had 26 weeks continuous service (unpaid maternity leave is counted) and I think the money is calculated for the 8 week period period prior to 15 weeks before my due date, which I have calculated as weeks 17 - 25, but would be really grateful if someone could just let me know if I am correct!!

Thanks Smile

You will have to confirm with your HR dept. I think in my civil service department you have to be in 26 weeks of paid service to get your contractural pay, so unpaid leave wouldn't be counted.
