I can't get a job....

I've filled in about 15 applications and have been to 3 interviews but no one wants me

The last people that interviewed me said I didn't seem 100% behind the role
It was only selling car insurance!!

Have you tried an agency?

Don't dispair elsmommy, at least not yet, five CVs to get an interview is actually a good record.

The last one I went to was through an agency. But none of them seem to have much part time work at the moment

I need a job too. Gonna have a look through the agencies but haven't worked for 5 years as I've either been a sahm or a student, so no experience (though I have helped out with dhs business) and don't have any referees at all.

This is so stressful, anyone know of a guaranteed job, i.e. one where you have a very good chance of getting it? Minimum wage will do!

Have you tried going to a professional to help write your cv? Sometimes it's not you, but just the way you present yourself. Also, are you sure you are going for the right kind of jobs for you. For example, it doesn't sound like you really rated the car insurance job and maybe that showed in the interview. How about going for a job that you think will be a challenge.

Steffee, care sector is almost sure thing if you don't have a criminal record and will work weekends.

and if you have a brain and turn up every day for 2 yearts, you will get promoted.

supermarkets are good with hours around children.

its is absolutley true that it is easier to go from job to job than from unemployment to work. if you started off at a supermarket then you could still look for other part time jobs to suit you then in a few months start applying again. you will have a reference and job history to help you along

department store, local shops, local banks, supermakets, M&S those sort of places are good with part-timers. not ideal wages and you may well be overqualified for the jobs, but at least it's a job.

You do have to pretend that whatever the job is in is the most exciting thing you could possibly do with your life, even if it's actually rather dreary. If you turn up for interview with an attitude of 'it's only car insurance' then it will come across and it's not surprising you don't get the job.

I have just returned to work after being a sahm for 5 yrs. I need a job that I can fit around childcare. I applied to M&S and TK Maxx who only take applications on line now! I filled in forms at Tesco and Sainsbury and several DIY shops for shift work and applied to a few jobs on the Job Centre Website for my area. I eventually got a job in a pre-school which is exactly what I wanted but never thought I stood a cance without qualifications in child care. They knew I was not qualified in that area but are putting me on a course this sept with 50% fees paid. Sainsburys did ring me but I had my job by then. It is just a case of keep plugging away with the cv's or drop into the stores. Good luck

Thanks for all these suggestions, I didn't consider the care sector tbh, I don't know why. I'm going to have a look for supermarket and care sector jobs.
