DS annoyed with me for going back to work?

Hi, have been back at work part time for a few weeks now, and whenever I come home from work my 12 mnth old DS doesn't seem bothered to see me. He gives me a smile, but doesn't want me to pick him up, and won't even let me walk him round the living room, which he normally will jump at the chance to do with anyone! When I'm off work and we're on our own he's fine, but if DH is around he much prefers him, and cries if I try to pick him up instead. His grandma looks after him while I'm at work, and he even seems to prefer her to me now. Could he be annoyed with me / punishing me for going back to work? Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Is breaking my heart.

Hi, I can distinctly remember feeling heartbroken when my little boy asked for 'NicNic' his nursery carer (Nicky) instead of me but he's 5 now and in his words I'm 'The best Mum ever'

I don't know if your little boy is aware of what he's doing but he will soon learn that you are there for him, when he's poorly or upset, you won't judge him, you will just love him no matter what.

On a practical note it might be worth making a ritual of spending half an hour of one on one time as soon as you get in, to reassure him that he is your priority.

Hope this helps, hang in there:)

Thanks that helps massively, and brought tears to my eyes (in a good way) I think the one on one time is a good idea too.
Have a great day :)
