Working while on Additional Maternity Leave

Hi All

This may seem a bizarre post but I would appreciate your guidance.

I am just about to go onto Additional Maternity Leave, and I dont want to go back before the 1 yr due to childcare and not wanting to leave DC!

The thing is we are going to really struggle to get by. I intend to do my KIT days - which will help a bit. But other than this am I allowed to "do" anymore? There is the option at my work to do bank work in another role which would be eves/nights when dh would be home to look after lo. Can I ask to do this or is it a no go? Would it bring my mat leave to an end ?

Child care is resolved after the one yr is up as self employed dh will stay home - but he has too many work commitments until then.

I would enquire with HR if they were approachable!

if u work ur mat leave would end. Your only allowed 10 KIT days so anymore wouldnt be allowed. Have u thought about other things u could do for a little extra cash? selling things on ebay, avon etc?
