Thinking about becoming a dog-walker

Have pondered this idea - is anyone a dog walker? Do you use one? Don't have the first idea where to start. How much should I charge? I presume I'd need insurance of somekind? Any help welcome, thanks.

Round our way the girls charge £8 a one off walk and £6 a regular walk.
They have insurance - and I'm guessing there will be a specialist company that does that kind of insurance package.
I think there is a limit to how many fogs you can walk at any one time.
They supplement their income with dog sitting/full day care etc.

It's £5 per hours walk here and for that they pick your dog up, take him home and ensure he has fresh water (it's aimed at people who are out during the day).

If your dog needs walking alone (i.e. is nervous/dog aggressive) then it's £8 fpr the hour. They also do house sitting (going in and feeding/walking your dog for two hours per day) for £10 per day, but for the sake of the dog refuse to do this for longer than a three day period.

We used a dog walker sometimes, she charges £10ph. She picks up and collects. She also does pet and house sitting. My SIL uses one on a regular basis and she pays the same, different company.

Usually £8 - £20!!!. Although I think you have to live in Chelsea to get the £20. Have a look at www.followthelead.org.uk. It has all the info you need.

i used to run a petpals franchise. It was £8-£10 for an hours walk.

We also did small pet sitting and feeding jobs while owners were on holiday.

Its quite stressful and you should have a crb etc as you will be letting yourself into other people's homes and having their keys.

Have a look at the petpals website for ideas.
