Transferable skills- have you considered them?

I've been reading through some of the comments and questions here and a lot of woman seem to be in the same boat. Having spent a long time looking after little ones they now want to get back into a career but are confused about where to start looking.

One bit of advice I could offer would be transferable skills. Employers are wanting workers with adaptable skills such as team-work, problem solving, etc. And even when you haven't been employed for a while you will still be improving these skills.

One test that I know of which might be a no-fuss starting place is: www.essex.ac.uk/reo/ecif/assessments.html . It's free and only takes about 10 mins to complete so worth a go.

If anyone has any other ideas please let me know! Would be great to hear some other bits of advice.
