Maternity Allowance

Hi all,
I recently sent off my application form for maternity allowance to tide me over while I'm off work to have my baby (or to keep me in cappuccinos and muffins at least - I'm not going to be able to get much else with it!)
Did anyone else receive this while they were on maternity leave and if so, did they notify you to let you know they'd received your application or did they just start paying it straight into your account? I'm going on maternity leave in 3 weeks time and want to make sure the money's going to be coming in on time!

Dept of Work and Pensions got in touch with me via letter...letting me know how much I would be entitled to and for how long it would be paid to me. It will be paid to you every 2 or 4 weeks (depending on which box you ticked on the app form) Hope that helps

when i had this they took quite a long time to process - you can call to chase them up though you just need your NI number handy.
