Writers/copyright/publishing/ebay question

I am currently writing my first book. It's a non-fiction and practical manual sort of thing.

My idea was to sell it on through ebay or suchlike for a small nominal cost of a couple of pounds, and see if anyone is interested, rather than try and go through publishers.

Does anyone know how the copyright etc works in that sort of situation ? Obviously I don't want what I write to be free for all, so is there a simple way I can copyright it before I send it out to anyone (assuming anyone wants it!) ?

When you create the work it's automatically covered by copyright law (presuming you are in the uk).

There's tons of info on here - www.copyrightservice.co.uk/
