Copywriters/Any Freelancers Really! - Offering Services For Free

In your experience what is the best way to offer your services for free. E.g. if you were to speculatively email businesses what would you say?

The reason I ask is I am looking to build a portfolio so I believe offering my services for free to a few non-profit orgs etc may help.

I have found some good advice on here so thought I'd ask!

Hi, I would offer services for free in exchange for written testimonials. Testimonials add such weight to your marketing and will give you instant credibility in your marketplace.

If you're going to cold-email businesses you might want to design a small ad for them showing how you would promote their services or promote a fundraising event (for charities).

I run an internet marketing business for mumtrepreneurs and would be happy to give you a testimonial if you'd write a sales letter or some copy for me? You can contact me at [email protected]

Hope that helps, and good luck!

Hi Lancashire90 - are you hoping these will be future clients or do you just want the work for your portfolio? Do you have any experience/work in your folio yet?
