Hi All, I currently have a 3yo dd who is due to start school in Sept 2011, I work currenlty 4 days per week and take home circa £1100 per month which pays all household bills (morg, utilities, insureances etc) My dh takes home £325.00pw which pays for food, petrol etc. I currently receive enough tax credits/child benefit to pay for childcare for 4 days a week. I would love to have another child next year in June ideally so that I would be on maternity leave as dd starts school so that i can take & pick up. However dh has said that if we do he doesnt want me to go back to work as childcare costs are so expensive. I am just really concerned as to what to do as there is no way that we would be entitled to more in benefits i dont think. Can you please adivse how you sahm mums cope. Thanks

I work from home around the kids- would that be an option?

Hi Butterpie, something like that would be ideal, what do you do? xx

I sell children's books with Usborne. You get out of it what you put in, obviously, but I am on track for a promotion at the end of the month (and to be earning £500 a month) and I only started halfway through May, don't drive, and have two small children with me all the time, so it is possible.

Click here for my website and my email address is on there too if you want further info.

Obviously my income should keep on going up too, by the way.

It will be much easier for you when DC1 goes to school - no childcare costs and you will pick him up from school.

Hi ryma, my dilema is if I have another baby would I be able to be a sahm or would i need to go back to work. Ideally it would be great to speak to someone in the know who could tell me that to take home £1100 a month I would only need to work so many hours and tell me how many tax credit I would have etc.
