Woolly Hugs. Remembering F. A Blanket for the very lovely aloneinthenight and her family.

Desperately sad news we’re afraid. At the beginning of May, aloneinthenight’s wonderful son died from cancer at just 14 years old. Life is too cruel, we are so sorry, there are no words are there? So many of you supported aloneinthenight on her thread along their enormous heartbreaking rollercoaster. Cancer is a vile illness and has stolen yet another beautiful life.

We are so pleased that aloneinthenight has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love for them all in every stitch. She says it means so much. We hope the Woolly Hug may give whatever comfort it can to alone and her family. She says “My younger son A, particularly loves a blanket so it would mean a lot to him too.”

Let us make something very special for this wonderful family.

We asked aloneinthenight about her beautiful boy, and these are her words…..

“He loved anything outdoors, bikes, scooters, skateboards, rollerboots, cars, anything dangerous. And dolphins, sloths, hedgehogs, tigers and crocodiles. I love a polar bear! And crime dramas - Poirot and Death in Paradise. No idea how you'll put on a blanket! you are all amazing xx”

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.*

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! The last thing any of us want are squares collapsing once the blanket is with the family.

When posting, it will be the Teddington address, please make sure you add your name and who the squares are for, and if you would like to include a card for aloneinthenight and her family please do, we will pass it on.

More beautiful treasure has been arriving, apologies for the delay, my daughter's tonsillectomy has thrown us upside down for a couple of weeks. But she is much better now!

Ladies, my blanket arrived in the post this morning. I am overwhelmed. It is so beautiful and I can't believe how much work has gone into it. I shall certainly treasure it.

The timing is perfect too, it's Fred's birthday next week, and soon the anniversary of this death. These two things, as well as the end of lockdown, have made the last few weeks tough.

It means so much to me that you have thought of us in the way.
