So desperately sad, the lovely poster TwittleBee’s beautiful baby son Roy devastatingly died just five days after his birth, there really are no words, we are incredibly sorry that life has been so cruel to him, them, his big brother, to them all. We send so much love and are keeping them all in our thoughts. Twittle has been supported by her wonderful friends over on their September 2019 antenatal thread over here.

We were so glad when lovely Twittle accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, together we can make something very beautiful for them all, for his life filled with love. We hope you will help us.

Lovely Twittle has given us some beautiful insights

“I'll share a bit about who he was, is and was meant to be... Our little Roy was our Rainbow baby (just taken by a storm too soon) and he was our little fox too, he was meant to be coming home to a woodland fox themed nursery. His ashes are scattered by drift wood and fallen trees on the beautiful wild beach. He was meant to be all wrapped up in blues, a proper little boy. I don't know if that may help for inspiration? “

It certainly does, doesn’t it?

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too. Please message with your offer of help.

The Yarn we are Using….
Artesano Superwash Merino DK
Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
Drops Merino Extra Fine DK
Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK
Katia Merino 100% DK
King Cole Luxury Merino DK (new this time)
Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
Patons Merino Extrafine DK

Our colours…

For whole squares..
Blues, this is our focus colour, to wrap Roy’s memory in blue.
Greens

Then as accent colours (not whole squares)
Oranges, lots of little foxes would be wonderful.
Taupe (Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM7 Taupe)
Silvers
Yellow please Drops merino extra fine DK no 24 ‘light yellow’

Then if anyone would like to make rainbow embellishments on squares that would be wonderful, we need them, but just using our yarns as above though pls.

There are many ideas and themes folk may like to work on, but simple squares are as important. Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.
Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! Previous blankets can be seen on our website

When ready for posting, it will be the Teddington address, if you would like to include a card for Twittle and her family, please do.

Sending so much love Thanks

I'm happy to make foxes with Pumpkin. And happy to have it sent direct if that's easier. I have lots of blue and also a cream for the white bits on foxes. I found a Fox Applique from google that I could easily replicate. And some other woodland things.

WhenDoISleep · 14/11/2019 17:57

KnottyAndPistey I may have stocked up when it was discontinued.

Would two balls be enough? I can get it in the post to Teddington tomorrow.

WhenDoISleep · 14/11/2019 17:57

Or happy to send direct to Soupy, as we cross-posted.

ginghamstarfish · 14/11/2019 18:01

I'm happy to do some crochet ones, if anyone has this yarn to spare (I have loads but none of those listed).

Yiayoula · 14/11/2019 18:12

Count me in - will pm you now.

Okki · 14/11/2019 18:59

I wish i could crochet as I just looked at the links previous quilts and am typing this with tears in my eyes.

This is such a powerful and amazing thing to do to support and I would love to donate money/wool to be a part of an amazing creation.

WhenDoISleep · 14/11/2019 20:47

No problem, will get it in the post first thing tomorrow.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 14/11/2019 20:51

so very sad, will get some wool tomorrow

Pauleen · 14/11/2019 22:05

I will help with both off today’s requests but need wool. 2 colours for each please, which should make 5 or 6squares each

MadisonAvenue · 15/11/2019 00:11

My thoughts are with Twittle, this is so sad.

I'm in, but I've PM'd about needing yarn.

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 15/11/2019 05:08

Hi

I dont really know how / how much / where to send a money donation towards yarn?

Tvstar · 15/11/2019 05:17

Is it OK to e posting about someone else's raw tragedy on a mainstream board?

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 15/11/2019 07:06

@IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH if you message KnottyandPistey they will give you instructions. I crochet rather than donate, in the past donors have chosen and ordered yarn and had it sent directly to me.

I'm going to check my yarn stash for colours this morning.

SoupDragon · 15/11/2019 07:09

@Tvstar if you read the first post, it is all explained. The poster has herself accepted the offer of a blanket. If you click through to the Woolly Hugs website using the link in the first post it will all be explained.

HoggyTruffle · 15/11/2019 10:18

Such sad news. I have just put in an order for more yarn and will make a couple of squares for this blanket.

WhenDoISleep · 15/11/2019 10:24

Two balls of pumpkin yarn are on their way to Teddington.

Ginisatonic · 15/11/2019 13:53

Sad news. I will send some squares. I have wool.

BlueEyeshadow · 15/11/2019 18:38

How sad. I can do at least a couple of squares I think.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/11/2019 18:43

I'm happy to donate yarn. Have Pmed and will order tomorrow.

MrsMozartMkII · 15/11/2019 18:48

Put me down for wool donation.

May the wee lad rest peacefully xxx
