Types of squares

I would love to make some squares but i’m not great at granny squares. I love doing other stitches like waffle, crocodile, popcorn, chevron etc. Is there any possibility of making piles of squares if I was directed to certain yarns and colours?

Thank you both! I shall look in to all of them. I currently make octos for preemies through the charity but would like another ongoing project
