Many of you have followed Willowkins’ posts and have been very supportive on her threads about her DH’s cancer, through to the devastating news of his death, and now supporting her in her bereavement. Absolutely horrendous and so desperately sad, we are sorry that life has been so cruel, we send so much love to Willowkins, we are thinking of her and her wonderful DH. Her thread in Bereavment is here, if you would like to add a message.

We are so glad that Willowkins has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love in every stitch for her for sure, so we shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we shall need both and we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too.We have part balls if any hookers need yarn, please say. Please PM us with your offers of help THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Lovely Willowkins has given us many ideas for her blanket, it really will be a tribute to her DH.

His initials are AJM, and hers and the rest of the family are E, J and N.
Other potential themes are: church (particularly the bread and wine as he loved communion)
Animals (particularly all kinds of dogs, cats and goldfish)
Flowers and veg (maybe even a pair of green wellies?)
Any kind of food and maybe a bottle of wine (he didn't drink but was really knowledgeable)
Any old building or ancient monument; hearts and crosses.
And finally, but v important for Willowkins, we are going to need a blue parrot - a Norwegian Blue to be precise. MrW was a Monty Python fan and would recite the Dead Parrot sketch at every opportunity - that symbolises his sense of humour.

Lots of beautiful ideas for squares, but please don’t feel daunted, simple squares are needed too.

The Yarn we are Using….
Artesano Superwash Merino DK
Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
Drops Merino Extra Fine DK
Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK
Katia Merino 100% DK
King Cole Luxury Merino DK (new this time)
Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
Patons Merino Extrafine DK

Blues, including turquoise
Taupe - Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM7 Taupe
Stone - Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM9 Beige, Debbie Bliss Rialto 06 Stone

Then for accents and embellishments (not whole squares)
Red, but one of these two please, Drops Merino Extra Fine 11 Red, or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM6 ‘Ruby’ please
Cream but please one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream, or Drops Merino 01 off white
Yellow please Drops merino extra fine DK no 24 ‘light yellow’

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.*

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! Previous blankets can be seen on our website

When ready for posting, it will be the Teddington address, if you would like to include a card for Willowkins, please do, we will pass it on.

Sending so much love Thanks

Thank you all so much for creating this beautiful Woolly Hug. It really has brought me so much comfort. Usually I keep it in the protective bag (basically I don't trust the cats with it) but take it out whenever I need a boost or to feel loved and protected. It makes me smile.
Today is the anniversary of MrW's last morning on Earth and I wrapped it myself up in it while I posted on my bereavement thread. I thought you might also like to see a picture of it in my house so here is a photo (hopefully this works and I managed to include your square).
Thank you again. Much love ❤️
