Such awful news we are afraid, the very lovely WatcherOfTheNight’s wonderful daughter died very suddenly and unexpectedly on September 1st, she was only 22 with the whole adventure of life ahead of her. Life can be so very cruel. It was later found she died from Sudden Arrythmogenic Death Syndrome. Absolutely horrendous, absolutely out of the blue. We are so sorry, and send much love to her family and friends, huge hugs. x Watcher’s thread is here, but in chat so it will disappear soon.

Her DD's is Ashlee, she will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

We are so glad lovely Watcher (one who gives so much as part of the Night Watch here on Mumsnet) has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug for their family. It truly will be a tribute and celebration of a life filled with love.

We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) Sincere thanks. Thanks

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM us with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, we can help you with all of it.

Reading Watcher’s message about Ashlee was like reading about someone we know, such a bright, happy, beautiful girl, so much love and enthusiasm. Please if you can help with any of these ideas if would be fantastic.

  • Ash adored animals, especially dogs, cats & butterflies.
  • She was passionate about the environment, she fed tired bees sugar water & rescued frogs from cats & her last ever post on Facebook was about how bread is bad for ducks. *Ash spent her spare time going to concerts with friends, loved Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith as well as many more but she was obsessed with IDirection. *The line “that’s what makes you beautiful” is really special, can anyone take that on, maybe embroidery? Please message if so. x
  • She loved Pokemon Go. She spent her time home from uni playing this with her brother, they spent hours traipsing around our local area hunting.
  • She spent Sundays when home from uni at Nan’s baking cakes with her cousins and painting their nails various shades of sparkly purple & pinks.
  • Above all Ash loved her family, especially her little brother & younger cousins.

Beautiful Thanks

Colourwise...
Her favourite colour was purple, then pink, so these two please

My nan made all of us crochet blankets when we were little so hearing that people want to make one for Ash has really touched me & makes me feel she’s looking over me.x

We find from lovely Watcher there is free screening and testing available, CRY (cardiac risk in the young ) hold screening clinics for all 14-35 year olds, we had no idea, please do share widely, we will certainly be spreading the word too. Have a look please and have a think.
See here www.testmyheart.org.uk Sadly it is too late for Ashlee, but sharing and acting upon this could well save others. Thank you xxxx

Wow Madison, fabulous!

bookbook · 11/12/2017 17:18

They are beautiful Madison
Jux - I think the snowflakes are definitely worth a shot in Google translate , its no fun doing it the proper way.
(Though I tried to read a crotchet pattern off ravelry in Norwegian. I gave up, it made no sense whatsoever, even though it had a chart ......)

Traffig · 11/12/2017 22:03

Madison, they are lovely.Smile

Jux · 11/12/2017 22:12

Book Grin (I have done a couple, and am enjoying the air mesh, rods and warp stitches! It makes a nice change.) I'm impressed by your Norwegian forays!

MadisonAvenue · 11/12/2017 22:13

Thank you!

Jux, book and Caz your squares are all so lovely, this is going to be a wonderful blanket!

bookbook · 11/12/2017 22:18

I hadn't realised that not every pattern on ravelry is in UK/USA at the time Jux , and just thought I could wing it , as there was a chart Blush

Jux · 11/12/2017 22:52

I'm often completely unsure which it is too; I tend to just do what I feel like at the time and try to keep it consistent within a pattern, whether I do doubles or trebles. I've been doing those German stars and sometimes I do doubles (mostly) but I've done one with trebles and I don't think it actually matters. With the squares we have to conform to a size though. These German stars are just to hang on the tree, so different sizes is fine.

Brexit negotiations would be simple through the medium of yarn arts! What super squares you have photographed. I will be back on the laser cutter before the end of term Grin

Did the hat fit your DD Stitchit?

I'm also still waiting for donor wool. I may put it on my Christmas list.

Lovely squares, cat & Madison (and for slinky too).

I’ve nearly finished the blanket I’m making for DD for when DS is born [oops] and then I’ll crack on with these.

TroubledTribble28 · 13/12/2017 22:37

KnottyandPistey did you receive the package I sent? :D

My yarn has arrived too. Thank you.

BlueEyeshadow · 15/12/2017 15:36

Some wool has arrived today - silvery grey and maroony purple - so I'm guessing it's grey for Slinky and purple for Watcher.

Thank you! Will get cracking now. :)

Traffig · 16/12/2017 17:47

My gosh, I so wish I had learned how to do such beautiful work.
I was in our town market today and a woman came up to me ( and others) and handed me a little knitted angel.
She said it was from the local churches with love.
She had a whole bag of them.
I thought of you all, and have put it on my tree to remind me of Watcher, her lovely daughter and the amazing people who made this thread and contributed. Smile
