Just devastating. Like many we just couldn’t take it in that CatThiefKeith had died so suddenly from the bastard illness meningitis. Utterly shocking. Words really do fail, we are just so very sorry life has been so cruel to her, her DH, young daughter, their families and friends. We are so pleased to say that her DH has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, and we hope that he and their DD will feel our love and support and that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them. There is a thread here if you would like to post condolences She brought a smile to so many faces with her stories of her mad life, Mumsnet is a sadder place without her here.

We want to make it a real tribute and celebration of CTK, will you join us?

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too. Please message with your offer of help.

Our palette for CTK is quite specific, so please do read carefully

  • Red, her DH has asked for it to be predominantly red, and we will be using these 2 for consistency one of these please, Drops Merino Extra Fine 11 Red, or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM6 ‘Ruby’ please. *Turquoise and lighter blues *Cream, one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream, or Drops Merino 01 off white *Apple, pistachio and lime greens
  • Orange - one of these please, Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK - Pumpkin (373) orDebbie Bliss Rialto DK - Tangerine (56) or Debbie Bliss Rialto DK - Burnt Orange (43) *Coral - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 55 only please *Lighter silver Just for embellishments please - Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM7 Taupe -

Ideas and suggestions for squares.
Her DH has asked for any camper van motifs or designs and then ideas to come from her MN friends. Now different folk knew her in different ways, whether it was debating the existence of goldfish in funfairs or taking dogs on trains, many many stories were shared, and we would like to reflect these, so please, if you have an idea that you would like to share, please do, or post on the thread and we will try and get someone crafting it, but what we ask is that you send us a note we can pass on with the blanket to explain your ideas, help create a memory blanket for her DD. We hope that makes sense. xxx

Ah, just realised possibly too much info in my last post so have asked MNHQ to remove.

bookbook · 14/10/2017 14:35

My wool order arrived today - so will crack on tonight

SweetBabyJebus · 14/10/2017 14:35

To my shame i have never partaken in a Wooly Hugs thread before so not sure how it works. I would love to donate wool, do i wait to be 'matched' to someone or do i send it on to Wooly Hugs HQ?

bookbook · 14/10/2017 14:37

K&P - in the deluge of messages I sent you Blush did you see I would welcome some taupe wool if you can spare some to send. Thank you :)

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/10/2017 14:43

SweetBabyJebus just PM Knottey&Pistey and they will send you details. You get matched to someone (you're not told their name, just address) and then you order the wool and arrange for delivery to that address.

I just did mine via telephone order to the Wool Warehouse - looked at the colours online first. I told the woman who took my order all about Woolly Hugs - she was fascinated!

SasBel · 14/10/2017 14:44

Wool arrived safely. Will get started!

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/10/2017 14:44

A bit late, but I’m in. I’ll aim to do two squares :)

Jux · 14/10/2017 15:27

I remember that thread - the cat in the car thread of CTK's, but I don't remember much else about it, sadly. It probably was in Chat but I wonder if it's old enough to have been archived (and if MNHQ have time to pursue it)? It would be so nice to have her 'naming' thread.

clairethewitch70 · 14/10/2017 18:01

Thanks to a donor, red & orange wool arrived today. Just in time as I have just posted frazzles squares.

IDoLikeARainbow · 14/10/2017 18:39

Have an idea for a VW Camper Square, will give it a go along with some plainer squares.

clairethewitch70 · 14/10/2017 21:57

I am itching to get started but am struggling for ideas - anyone got any suggestions - I have red & orange wool to work with. Thought plain knitted or grannies with something appliquéd on top.

elephantoverthehill · 14/10/2017 23:03

Claire with those colours what about a sun rise with a sailing boat, camper van, balcony or cat appliqued on top?

bookbook · 15/10/2017 08:05

@clairethewitch70 - - no suggestions as such, but I have a bit of spare pale blue in Debbie Bliss Rialto and some Drops merino in cream I could send for a bit of contrast colour. If you want to pm your address, I can pop it in the post .

glenthebattleostrich · 15/10/2017 08:05

Huge thanks to the lovely lady who sent me 2 balls of beautiful yarn. I'm googling for pattern inspiration. Thinking a plain red ctc with a white cat, a white granny with another applique. Plus some striped CTC.

Okkitokkiunga · 15/10/2017 09:47

I was wondering about doing one with CTK and a little applique cat in the corner if there's enough space. I don't know what colour/s I'm going to have yet though.

I've only ever used SSDK - do the stitch counts/tension stay more or less the same with this wool?

bookbook · 15/10/2017 12:28

not too far off Okki -. Nice to work with :)

JustKeepKnitting · 15/10/2017 14:13

Thank you to my donor for the red/green/cream drops wool, it arrived yesterday.
I will be searching for knitting designs tonight!

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/10/2017 14:21

@KnottyAndPistey
I'm in. I'll order some wool this week. Unfortunately I can't pm at present as my iPad is in need of first aid.

Whatsthatbrightlght · 15/10/2017 15:58

I'm in. I have a Campervan chart from a blanket I made that I think I can adapt. Would appreciate some wool though please

Whatsthatbrightlght · 15/10/2017 16:07

I'm hoping it will look something like this!
