I've been following this case for a while; it's so sad. Could we do something - a woolly hug or some yarn bombing? Someone has posted in the 'In The News' topic, saying it's Nazanin's 'wool' wedding anniversary coming up.

Would anyone be up for doing something?

Not that I'm suggesting you should go looking for them, if theyre in, they are in. I am 99% sure you've got them somewhere, but they might end up in a different kinship blanket, which would be wonderful as well. Flowers Love to all! Chocolate

KnittingPearl · 27/10/2016 15:31

If you need more, I'm fairly sure I have some sage so could pull something together this weekend?

KnottyAndPistey · 28/10/2016 09:27

We definitely have enough for a blanket 48 by 60 inches, which is the size we make the Chernobyl and Kinship blankets, which is a good single bed size. What do people think?

KnottyAndPistey · 28/10/2016 09:28

Are we now aiming to make one of this size for each of them?

KnottyAndPistey · 28/10/2016 09:31

We do have the benefit of extras if necessary, have been saving the Woolly Hug kinship squares in vintage in case

twofingerstoGideon · 28/10/2016 12:19

Knotty - Are we now aiming to make one of this size for each of them?

You mean one for Nazanin and one for her daughter? I think that would be lovely. I'm happy to send more squares in vintage.

Can I just check something about motifs for the blanket hopehully going to Nazanin?

When I studied Islamic Art, we were taught that in some Islamic cultures and communities avoid any representation of natural forms in manmade items. Not going into that too deeply, but am I right in thinking it might be sensible to avoid any representational motifs (flowers, birds, people, leaves, trees, etc, etc) and stick to geometric patterns, textured stitches, colour changes, and so on?

twofingerstoGideon · 28/10/2016 17:39

Peace Most Persian/Turkish carpet/tile patterns are almost entirely based on representations of flowers, buds, pomegranates, birds, leaves etc.
Representations of the human form are considered idolatrous though.

I know, two but the blanket might have to go through other regions, through other groups who don't share the same ideas. It's just me being super cautious, becausr of the situation she is in. Don't want to make her situation worse by perceived messages or symbolism being sent to her.

KnottyAndPistey · 29/10/2016 14:07

Afternoon Brew

We wouldn't want to offend everyone, and we are quite confident in what we have. So please don't worry.

Not dug out the squares yet, but we are going for two 48 by 60 inch blankets.

Shall we set a new deadline, then crack on with construction?

We have plenty of squares to top up with if needed you see, but we'd rather use squares from for who would like to make specifically

Twoevils · 30/10/2016 23:23

I've been experimenting with crochet with my leftover yarn. Have a couple of granny squares in vintage if that helps?

KnottyAndPistey · 01/11/2016 07:53

Yes please Two thank you Thanks

Last posting then no later than next Monday please, then whatever happens we crack on! We will have plenty xxxx

Thanks
KnottyAndPistey · 05/11/2016 09:24
