Such sad news, Rumer, the beautiful baby daughter of TheDisillusionedAnarchist has passed away at only 3 months old. She had Edwards' syndrome, (trisomy 18) which gave her many problems. Bless her heart. Sad TheDisillusionedAnarchist's thread is here

We have offered to make a blanket and are so pleased lovely Disillusioned has said yes. We hope that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them, celebrating Rumer’s life, one filled with love.

Thanks

Lovely Disillusioned has sent us this message below, it gives lots of ideas, we know we can make something truly beautiful for them.

“Thanks so much, so difficult to know what we would like, I really don't know. So thought I'd just tell you a bit about what reminds us of Rumer and that might give people ideas. We would be so happy with anything.

Rumer had a rainbow blanket like this she is buried in it and we had it over the altar in her memorial service. We really like bright colours and this was the first thing we bought her.

She liked singing, we sang her Waltzing Matilda, Wind the Bobbin Up, Speed Bonnie Boat, Morning town ride, The Teddy Bears Picnic, Incy Wincy Spider. That was our standard repertoire.

She also had her grey bear with us who had the original name of er Grey Bear. She had 3 copies of chromosome 18 which was very much part of who she was, it gave her sweet crossed over fingers as well as her many problems.

She was dressed often in her little grey elephant suit which she is buried in and she is buried in our back garden hopefully we'll plant a tree for her. This is the video we showed at her memorial service which shows her blanket and elephant suit etc. Happy for you to share.

Hope that is okay, so many thanks for doing this”

Bless them all Thanks

Can you help us in any way?

Please PM with your offers of help. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Reading this will give lots of ideas but please don't feel daunted we truly love plain squares and simple textures too. They look as stunning as the more complex squares and play a vital role in the overall effect.

Previous blankets can be seen on the Woolly Hugs website and we are on Facebook as Woolly Hugs and Twitter @Woolly_Hugs which are both good ways to keep in touch.

As always heartfelt thanks for your support

The spiral is from a book called "500 crochet blocks". It's actually called "rainbow" which is why I picked it. Beware to anyone who buys or borrows the book though - it's littered with mistakes, including in that pattern, so takes a bit of working out what you're meant to be doing! Glad you like :)
