We are really pleased to be announcing our Woolly Hugs' Christmas fundraiser for 2013. We hope that you will be able to help us in some way. Thanks

Winston’s Wish are an amazing charity who help bereaved children re-adjust to life after the death of a parent or sibling, offering practical support and guidance. Winston’s Wish have helped many families within our Woolly Hugs and Mumsnet communities, and we would very much like to do something now to help them. To read more about the work they do, see here

Here's how you can join in...

We are looking to make and sell small/lightweight Christmas craft items, and to keep postage costs to a minimum we ask that ideally anything made can be sent on to a buyer in nothing bigger than a Large envelope. (35cm by 25cm, no thicker than 2.5cm, 750g max )

Some suggestions for you, but we are very open to others too

  • Christmas tree and other decorations
  • Little bags and purses
  • Christmas stockings
  • Bunting
  • Gift tags
  • Gift bags
  • Craft kits
  • Brooches, hair accessories, key rings
  • Stocking fillers

Sewn, crocheted, embroidered, knitted, tis up to you!
Last posting for crafts to be Saturday 30th November please.
Please PM for the posting information.

If you would like to contribute funds to help others craft we would love to hear from you.

ThanksThanksThanks

Woolwarehouse delivery is fantastic.

Apparently. Obviously I have never used them, oh no no no.

AntoinetteCosway · 24/10/2013 11:04

Hello, signing up! Am a relatively new crocheter but will try and make something pretty Smile

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 24/10/2013 11:18

Grin soupy, I haven't used them that much

SoupDragon · 24/10/2013 11:38

I'm told they sometimes stick in a free gift.

HoggyTruffle · 24/10/2013 14:11

My favourite darning needle was a free gift from Woolwarehouse. In fact, I have just used it on something I'm making for the Xmas sale.

I have finished a string of stars and have started on something I am making up. It may go horribly wrong.

agree with the postage - first time I took the parcel to the post office it was too thick to go through the hole, so I put them in a bigger packet to make it thinner and the difference was £3 in postage charges. Weight is secondary now. Still think they're robbing sods either way.

Mirage · 27/10/2013 12:00

No problem,I'll double check the dimensions and crack on.Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/10/2013 07:04

Thanks Mirage, you are a star X Thanks

Hope no one has been blown away in this stormy weather, and that everyone is OK X

I'm on the scrounge...

Does anyone have any brooch pins? I've made three wee flowers that I'd like to make into brooches but I don't have any pins. I mean something like this: www.alchemyandice.com/images/T/BP0414S.jpg

They're on amazon but I'm a bit loathe to buy 25 or 50 when I only want three. If anyone has any going spare and could post to me I would happily PayPal you the postage?

Thank you :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/10/2013 13:36

Have just looked around, and have found a pack of 5, they are 30mm long. We have had funds sent to help buy resources for crafters, so if that sounds OK, we are very happy to order them for you, if you let us have your address.

Shame because I was in a fab craft shop (sadly not local) and saw them at the weekend!

JollyScaryGiant · 29/10/2013 13:42

I'm happy to buy them if you can give me the link? :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/10/2013 14:56

I found 5 pieces with this sort of back here on Ebay

Now this is 10 here but with a safety back also on Ebay

Just reassure me that doesn't take you to my Ebay profile someone??!!

I wonder if we should buy them for Woolly Hugs and send three on to you, wondering if anyone else might like any for the craft sale.

GlaikitFizZombieFodder · 29/10/2013 17:31

My style craft in bottle arrived today (already hidden it so DH can't moan) going off to Rav to find something suitably festive to make with it!

SuperNappy · 29/10/2013 17:52

I couldn't understand why you'd put Stylecraft in a bottle. I am a pillock.

GlaikitFizZombieFodder · 29/10/2013 18:11

Message in a bottle!! :o

catmadcaz · 29/10/2013 18:38
