I have to admit that it has taken me while to write this. Sometimes it feels that despite all the words at our fingertips, there are never the right ones.

This morning we learnt of the heartbreaking news that Cupofteaplease's beautiful daughter, Beatrice, had been taken from us: another bright star to light the skies above us.

If you have followed Cup's threads, you could not have failed to be touched by Bea's magic and be inspired by her mother and her family (affectionately known as The Teaset ) who ensured that for Bea, 'A life filled with love is a life worth living.'
Their dedication to Bea, their bravery and love reached many hearts and touched many lives. Bea will live long in our hearts and memories.

Our thoughts and love are with them all and we hope that this blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them.

We would be very grateful for your help. Here's how:

We need knitters, crocheters and donors.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
Whatever way youd like to be involved, please PM Pistey: it really helps us to know how many people are involved. Thanks

The wool we are using:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • Rowan Cashsoft DK.

*Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK.

*Artesano Superwash Merino DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • knitters cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Pinks, blues, greens, warm purples, silvers and cream (we'd be grateful if you use Debbie Bliss 013, if opting for cream)

If you wish to make flowers and bees and would like to use yellow, please PM Pistey as we have some in our stash and we would like to use the same colour throughout. Thanks

Ideas for squares:

Motifs:
Bees, primroses, violets, daisies and any other flowers.

Please don't feel daunted by any of the ideas as we really love plain squares and simple textures too. They look as stunning as the more complex squares and actually play a vital role in the overall effect.

Previous blankets can be seen here on the Woolly Hugs website . We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our Facebook page, you'll be updated on progress via your News Feed.

As always, we thank you so much for your support.

Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Oh, I would love to go to that concert - thanks for linking, Glaikit. I shall have to check re childcare though... I don't think the City Chambers are quite ready for my 4 Grin.

Flojo1979 · 12/11/2012 19:37

Oh bugger its 6 and 1/4 inches. Is there anything that can be done? Or do I have to frog it?

GlaikitFizzog · 12/11/2012 19:52

Flo, for every one slightly over there is bound to be one slightly under! I don't think 2 of mine have experience been the same size!

pacific would be great if you could make it. I'm thinking it could be a bit of a meet up.

KnottyLocks · 12/11/2012 19:55

Hi
I've nearly finished my square! I am a complete beginner so I do hope that it will be ok. I have had to unravel it twice because of a hole so it is taking a long time. Is one square ok? Dare I attempt a second?

musttidyupmusttidyup · 12/11/2012 21:41

Finished! No holes!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 12/11/2012 21:56

Well done you!

greengoose · 12/11/2012 22:11

Hi, I'm not sure if I've found this thread too late to do some squares? I can get the wool at the WE and have them done by the middle of next week, would that be ok?
I'm so sorry they are needed.

KnottyLocks · 12/11/2012 22:20

Greengoose, not to late at all. Bless you.

Morning Pistey! Thanks for Brew

LadyWellian · 13/11/2012 12:49

Pistey have my squares arrived yet? I posted them 1st class on Friday. Angry

Not at all sure I trust our local post office.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 13/11/2012 13:28

Is it ok to just send in a normal envelope?

droitwichmummy · 13/11/2012 17:16

That should be ok as long as you make sure it is well sealed

AnnaKissed · 13/11/2012 17:26

Have I missed the post about when the deadline is? Do I just post it back to the address on the envelope the wool came in? Sorry for stupid questions, it's my first time Blush

droitwichmummy · 13/11/2012 17:31

Hi Anna. When you are ready to post PM Pistey and she will let you know where to send your squares. The deadline has not been set yet so you have plenty of time. (no need to apologise for asking questions - we have a few newbies who are probably thinking the same things)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 13/11/2012 18:48

Evening all Smile Wine

Um, Welli, not yet, hopefully tomorrow.

musttidyup - yes it is absolutely fine to, but it might creep over thickness wise into needing a 'large' stamp. Please seal it up well Smile

Not a deadline yet, we will come up with one very soon, we have had folk joining us all the while, and wool delivery problems which is why we have held back on a deadline this time.

I shall PM you Anna - all is well Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/11/2012 15:27

Huzzah Welli! Today WAS the day Grin [fizzypop]

I'm smiling at your note Smile

Thanks LadyWellian A beautiful pink knit with three leaves on, a green, and two blues, just perfect, love it Star

Posted my 4 squares this afternoon. I hope they're good enough, I'm still a beginner, but they were made with love and care.
