I have to admit that it has taken me while to write this. Sometimes it feels that despite all the words at our fingertips, there are never the right ones.

This morning we learnt of the heartbreaking news that Cupofteaplease's beautiful daughter, Beatrice, had been taken from us: another bright star to light the skies above us.

If you have followed Cup's threads, you could not have failed to be touched by Bea's magic and be inspired by her mother and her family (affectionately known as The Teaset ) who ensured that for Bea, 'A life filled with love is a life worth living.'
Their dedication to Bea, their bravery and love reached many hearts and touched many lives. Bea will live long in our hearts and memories.

Our thoughts and love are with them all and we hope that this blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them.

We would be very grateful for your help. Here's how:

We need knitters, crocheters and donors.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
Whatever way youd like to be involved, please PM Pistey: it really helps us to know how many people are involved. Thanks

The wool we are using:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • Rowan Cashsoft DK.

*Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK.

*Artesano Superwash Merino DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • knitters cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Pinks, blues, greens, warm purples, silvers and cream (we'd be grateful if you use Debbie Bliss 013, if opting for cream)

If you wish to make flowers and bees and would like to use yellow, please PM Pistey as we have some in our stash and we would like to use the same colour throughout. Thanks

Ideas for squares:

Motifs:
Bees, primroses, violets, daisies and any other flowers.

Please don't feel daunted by any of the ideas as we really love plain squares and simple textures too. They look as stunning as the more complex squares and actually play a vital role in the overall effect.

Previous blankets can be seen here on the Woolly Hugs website . We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our Facebook page, you'll be updated on progress via your News Feed.

As always, we thank you so much for your support.

Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/11/2012 13:05

Thanks Thank you Pancake - got your message and it let me reply. T'was too easy Smile

Where's the fun in that?!

Pancakeflipper · 01/11/2012 13:19

Received reply. You are popular again!

SallyBear · 01/11/2012 13:54

Oooh. I do hope that my squares look ok in comparison to all this talent. I'm not much of a knitter, just wanted to do my little bit for Cup. Besides I bought petrol blue yarn and a warm deep purple. I really need to get back into knitting again. Good for weightloss Grin

LadyWellian · 01/11/2012 14:00

Oh no. Sad I haven't been on much and have only just seen this. As Pidj said on page 1, it was such a relief last year that we did not have to make this blanket. I was truly touched by Cup and the Teaset's positive outlook and I really hope that the time and the memories they have had with Bea will make it easier rather than harder to cope in the times ahead.

I've got wool. I will knit. This is so sad.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/11/2012 14:02

It really is the thought that counts Sally, squares made with love and thought are very precious indeed. Gorgeous colour choice, we look forward to receiving them Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/11/2012 14:02

Erm, pistey, my donor wool hasn't arrived yet, it's probably just gremlins at work or my postman has nicked it for his wife (apparently she's a 'clicker')
:)

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 01/11/2012 23:38

Thanks pistey. Glad DH did his stuff Grin

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 02/11/2012 00:03

Such a sad day.

I'm thinking of them all too today. This morning DS ignored all his cars and blocks and decided to play with his teaset. He keeps bringing me cups of tea and plates of "biscuits"

I just finished off a plain garter stitch square. It can become part of the meadow :)

Pistey is it the usual address for posting?

AnathemaDevice · 02/11/2012 09:50

I've got 2 squares made so far, and loads more wool left, thanks to my very generous donor. I'm quite pleased with what I've done, I've crocheted flowers, which I've never done before, and they turned out much better than I expected.

I've joined the ravelry group too, but not posted in there yet.

I'll be thinking of Bea and the Teaset tody. I hope the day goes as well as it can for them all.

MOSagain · 02/11/2012 09:56

Sad will be wearing something sparkly too and lighting a candle at 11am
Please send my love to cup xxx

Somersaults · 02/11/2012 10:06

We're thinking of them all today. Sparkly clothes are on and butterflies are being crocheted.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/11/2012 10:19

Of course lovely MOS x
