I have to admit that it has taken me while to write this. Sometimes it feels that despite all the words at our fingertips, there are never the right ones.

This morning we learnt of the heartbreaking news that Cupofteaplease's beautiful daughter, Beatrice, had been taken from us: another bright star to light the skies above us.

If you have followed Cup's threads, you could not have failed to be touched by Bea's magic and be inspired by her mother and her family (affectionately known as The Teaset ) who ensured that for Bea, 'A life filled with love is a life worth living.'
Their dedication to Bea, their bravery and love reached many hearts and touched many lives. Bea will live long in our hearts and memories.

Our thoughts and love are with them all and we hope that this blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them.

We would be very grateful for your help. Here's how:

We need knitters, crocheters and donors.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
Whatever way youd like to be involved, please PM Pistey: it really helps us to know how many people are involved. Thanks

The wool we are using:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • Rowan Cashsoft DK.

*Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK.

*Artesano Superwash Merino DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • knitters cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Pinks, blues, greens, warm purples, silvers and cream (we'd be grateful if you use Debbie Bliss 013, if opting for cream)

If you wish to make flowers and bees and would like to use yellow, please PM Pistey as we have some in our stash and we would like to use the same colour throughout. Thanks

Ideas for squares:

Motifs:
Bees, primroses, violets, daisies and any other flowers.

Please don't feel daunted by any of the ideas as we really love plain squares and simple textures too. They look as stunning as the more complex squares and actually play a vital role in the overall effect.

Previous blankets can be seen here on the Woolly Hugs website . We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our Facebook page, you'll be updated on progress via your News Feed.

As always, we thank you so much for your support.

Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

No wool today Sad, but in some kind of insane displacement activity I have unravled something I starte last winter to make another scarf-type thing - needed to have some wool and needles in my bag to justify my attendance at the Glasgow meet. And lovely it was too, albeit short as I had to remove my terrors offspring before they broke something or we were thrown out Blush.

I am now getting nervous I am going to miss the deadline?

KnottyLocks · 29/10/2012 19:44

Dogwood, the deadline won't be fir at least a couple of weeks so noneed to worry Smile

Gorgeous squares so far! I've just stumbled across the most lovely butterfly granny square but as I've started mine I won't have the wool to make it. Hoping this may be useful to someone waiting for wool:

Sorry for non-clickable link - doesn't seem possible from the app.

fanjodisfunction · 29/10/2012 21:08

Apparently my lovely wool from my lovely donor wtw is on its way. I have also ordered that black to go with the yellow you sent me pistey hopefully it will all be here very soon so I can get cracking on with this before saturday. I have a great idea for the square and just hope it works out well.

fanjodisfunction · 29/10/2012 21:09

pidj thats a great link. amazing square!

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 29/10/2012 21:30

It's Tweeti's link, i just clickied it!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 29/10/2012 21:43

This wool is so lovely and soft, it keeps slipping off the hook! I'm not used to using such quality [hgrin]

Somersaults · 29/10/2012 21:45

I've done this butterfly with my left over yarn. Should I do a few more of these with the rest of the pink or do some little flowers instead? Also any ideas on how to make the body that are simple (very simple) would be appreciated. The pattern suggests a pipecleaner but that sounds incredibly unblankety to me!

Trazzletoes · 29/10/2012 22:23

Somersaults, that's beautiful!

Jules146 · 29/10/2012 22:26

My squares ready for posting tomorrow (hsmile)

Jules146 · 29/10/2012 22:27

RiaOverTheRainbow · 29/10/2012 22:44

Somersaults This butterfly has a crochet body which might work?

KnottyLocks · 29/10/2012 22:46

Jules, gorgeous squares as always Smile

Ria, was just coming on to suggest something similar to that butterfly body. You beat me to it! Smile

Hope link works Blush. Just finished square Smile

Somersaults · 29/10/2012 23:17

Such gorgeous squares from everyone. This blanket is going to be absolutely beautiful.

Ria that looks like it might work. I have a few scraps of contrasting yarn so I'll have a play around tomorrow and see what works.

I'm up late having got stuck into squares for other hugs tonight but must go to bed now as since the clocks changed DD thinks 4.30am is getting up time. Sleep tight everyone. And spare an extra prayer for Cup tonight if you can because tomorrow will be a hard day.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 29/10/2012 23:24

I thought about Beatrice the whole time I was crocheting the square Sad

RatherBeOnThePiste · 30/10/2012 08:53

Morning all Smile

I love the butterflies!

And the squares are so beautiful. Thanks

MummyDuckling - squares made with love and thought are what it is all about, they are the heart of the blanket, and are very precious indeed.

Thank you Somersaults, yes, thinking about them all such a lot, particularly today, sending them love and strength.

My PM box is calling me, thank you to everyone X

Thanks
