Blanket for MrsY and her family. Donors, crocheters and knitters, can you help us?

We have heard the desperately sad news that MrsY has lost her precious baby son Benedict and have offered to make a blanket for her and her family. She is very touched by everyone's kindness, and would love to receive one. Here is the original thread

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

PM me and let me know how you can help, if you need matching up and I will be able to help you

For pictures from previous blankets, see here www.woollyhugs.com

As in the past, the wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • or Rowan cashsoft DK

They are very similar and can be combined

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks
  • Cast on 33 stitches
  • 6" squares

The colours for this project
Blues, warm purples, greens, silver and cream

So sad that another blanket is needed Sad Sending love to MrsY and her family.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 19:30

Cakey!

Will you be running on Saturday?

And for what it's worth, I'm wibbly wobbly with or without a crochet hook Grin

No woolly wool arrivals to report but lots of PMs, I am away there now Thanks

Grin Pistey! I feel like that some days too.
It remains to be seen whether I shall be running on Saturday but I'm in with a chance! Famous last words...

How are your woolly efforts coming on? You mentioned little flowers - am v impressed by that!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 19:58

erm..... well I have finished the two grannies. One is purple with a green border and the other is green with a purple border, and now they need something in the middle. But the one flower I can sorta make is too small. So I need to try something new, and that is what I haven't quite got to yet...

Pistey, you're coming on in leaps and bounds from your early loose hooker days Wink. Good for you! Colours sound lovely together. I have gone for cream this time so hope it will blend in nicely with the other woolly lovelies.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 30/05/2012 06:27

I just got the DK book of knitting this one - has anyone else got this? It's great.

I got it from WH Smiths where it is on special offer at £15, and I had a voucher for £5 off if you spend £15 - so £10.

Lots of big how to photos and stitch patterns.

Anyway, I am on my 3rd square, so the sheep will shortly be galloping...

Mittzopachycephalosaurus · 30/05/2012 17:02

Julesjules - my dad got me that book for my birthday. It's really good for describing techniques, however some of the patterns at the back are wrong so you can go through a lot of pain before you realise it! All of my squares for these two blankets have been from the book, practicing different techniques. Smile

Mittzopachycephalosaurus · 30/05/2012 19:51

Not much makes me tearful these days but your thanks has Pistey, also humbling to be a part of something so priceless. xx

The time and care of the co-ordinators also deserves massive thanks, SmileThanks and Star x
