Blanket for Edgar -> Blanket for Rindercella

I am most of the way through making the woolly blanket for EdgarAleNPie and her family and have a LOT of extra squares, thanks to all the wonderful, kind people out there in MNCraftworld.

How do people feel about making a blanket for Rindercella and her familiy as well as the blanket for Edgar? I''m happy to do the work, and FrazzledBlob and I are meeting next week to do the border, so the infrastructure is mostly in place.

Opinions please...

Made 2 squares. Knitted one is fine, needs a bit of blocking but it shouldn't be a problem.

However, I have also crocheted one (with bobbles too!!) and that has come up short. I am not crochet expert and don't know if it will stretch enough when blocked so fingers crossed on that!

Hopefully they can go in the post tomorrow.

purplepidjin · 25/04/2011 21:26

I have a fair bit of leeway to wiggle, Niecie, so don't let your efforts go to waste [mwah]

Albrecht · 25/04/2011 22:07

Purple, do you need more squares?

I told Pixie I'd do another one but its come out all wrong Confused

purplepidjin · 25/04/2011 22:42

At this point, I have no idea. I'm waiting for the rest of the squares to come in then I'll have a count up. I've got so much spare yarn, I'm pretty sure it's covered.

Obviously if anyone who hasn't had the chance to contribute pops up, I'll save them a space. But I can't tell whether I need more until I know what I've got, iyswim?

purpleknittingmum · 26/04/2011 19:55

My squares are done and hope to post them on Thursday to you

JulesJules · 27/04/2011 11:48

Oh I have only just seen this thread!

Haven't done my squares for Rinders yet, the wool hasn't arrived yet - will it be too late? I was going to do two. It will be next week now, depending on when the wool arrives, obviously.

Niecie · 27/04/2011 12:53

False alarm, me thinking I had finished my squares. The knitted one, as I say is fine. The crocheted one would not block to 6" no matter how hard I pulled at it tried to tease it into shape.

It occurred to me that 27 chains is not any longer than 27 stitches in knitting so even though the book says it should make a 6" square if you use DK yarn and a 4mm hook, it just isn't going to work is it?! So I have ripped it back and done an extra 4 stitches and it is now looking like it is spot on 6" without being blocked. You live and learn don't you.

KurriKurri · 27/04/2011 13:13

Hope to get mine in the post soon, - I've been having a bit of trouble with my hand, which has slowed me up.

Don't know if this is the right place, but I'd like to thank the person who sent me wool, - its a lovely deep pink, so many thanks anonymous mner [csmile]

whydobirdssuddenlyappear · 27/04/2011 20:06

Ooh I'd like to thank the 2 mners who sent me wool as well - I 'm RH, and I got a deep pink one yesterday and a paler pink one today. And thanks for the card :)
Purple, I posted 3 squares in the aforementioned darker pink to you today - hopefully you'll have them tomorrow - and I'll do the paler pink ones tonight/tomorrow to post asap, but with all the bank holidays, you may not have those until next week. I really have to send them though, because they're donated wool!
Just a thought, but if there are billions of squares over, could they go into another blanket to be auctioned/raffled off?

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 27/04/2011 23:43

By any chance is there a bit of leeway on delivery of the squares? I have done two, but would like to do a couple more (maybe whilst watching The Wedding), and would hope to post them monday at the latest?

purplepidjin · 28/04/2011 08:15

Yes, there's leeway, I've been a bit under the weather and not got much done the last few days. That and not knowing exactly what I've got...

purpleknittingmum · 28/04/2011 19:04

Mine got posted today!

Niecie · 29/04/2011 15:28

Re-done my crochet square and it is a better size now. Got the ends to weave in and I'm done but of course, there is no point posting it today as it isn't going anywhere. I shall hopefully get it in the post at the weekend.

I'll post a picture later.

purplepidjin · 30/04/2011 18:13

Edgar's blanket will be finished either tonight or tomorrow morning. I'll make a serious effort with rinder's next week when more squares arrive.

Thank you everyone. It looks stunning [mwah]

JulesJules · 30/04/2011 21:38

Argh, my wool I ordered to do Rinders squares still hasn't arrived so it's not going to come before Tuesday now is it? Damn all these bank holidays.

KurriKurri · 30/04/2011 22:55

posted mine today purplepidgin Smile

purplepidjin · 01/05/2011 07:11

Edgar's is done and pic is on my profile - sorry, should have posted that last night!

I'm now going to take a blanket bread for a week or so to let the postal system catch up with all the busy hooks and needles Grin

ohmeohmy · 01/05/2011 07:14

That's lovely, thank you for doing that.
