I was under the impression that they were getting rid of non-crime hate incidents. What is the point of them? Taking away resources from policing real crimes.

BadgerFacedCoo · 29/03/2023 19:44

What if the person you've upset identifies as a victim? Bit bigoted to suggest it's not a real crime. #valid

This is viral and needs to be bumped. Everyone should fill this in. Maybe change thread title OP so people know what it’s about?

Agree this is important. Not sure what their intentions are - they've been told to prioritise freedom of speech. Are they trying to use a consultation to provide more ambiguous guidance for police to hide behind ?

JacquelinePot · 29/03/2023 22:27

Bump

Maybe it should go in AIBU, it
may get more traffic there.

SinnerBoy · 30/03/2023 00:22

I hope that their billboard isn't still being used, as it was shown in court that being offensive isn't (necessarily) a crime.

Pixiedust1234 · 30/03/2023 00:40

Right now the police are being offensive, they need to do a non crime hate incidence against themselves 😠

Thelnebriati · 30/03/2023 14:36

I've asked MNHQ to amend the thread title.

I just don't wtf they're doing recording non-crimes when they can't provide a sensible level of policing in rural areas.

One thing I'd like to see change is that currently, you have no right to see if you have a NHC recorded against you. That doesn't seem right.

If being offensive is an offence does the fact that i find that advert offensive mean the police have committed an offence?

WishingMyLifeAway · 30/03/2023 18:53

I don't think they should be recording non-crimes at all. If it's not a crime the police have no business getting involved. And they certainly shouldn't be making lists of people who haven't committed crimes but have been involved in a poorly defined "hate incident". I had a quick look at the questionnaire and that option doesn't seem to be covered?

Thelnebriati · 31/03/2023 13:00

Yes.

Pixiedust1234 · 31/03/2023 14:32

Any trick questions i need to be aware of? I'm not always good at spotting them in surveys.

They have made noises and 'revised' the guidance but as far as I can tell it's just a sort of origami exercise that refolds the same vague pish into another shape.

Complete the online consultation questionnaire by 11:59pm on Sunday 16 April to have your say. https://www.college.police.uk/article/recording-non-crime-hate-incidents-have-your-say
