MumsNet Ads: Supporting MN in allowing Women to have a platform by purchasing their products

Just had a thought this morning whilst reading a few threads and seeing ads in between posts.
I don't often click on ads, I don't know if it's just me but I generally do my own research. But then I thought - actually if MumsNet is one of the few platforms that does give women a place to talk about matters that affect us (from pregnancy, schools, relationships, women's rights, domestic abuse) then I should at the very least click on the ads to see which companies are paying to ultimately many 100,000s of women.

Ok so far?

So I clicked on this ad, selling life insurance for women. The first question - Are you Male or Female? Made me whoop! No Other, Trans, etc options. A health insurer who knows that bodies matter.

I am in the market for life insurance right now; I have it through work but that isn't obviously a sensible policy if you are let go / or have to resign through long-term ill health. So I will absolutely most definitely be pursuing this option.

I think Mumsnet adverts must be largely algorithm based. I.e it'll largely advertise what you've recently searched, regardless of their twaw status. I'm regularly advertised to by the body shop and they were horrific to jk Rowling, so won't be getting my money again.

Remember, Mumsnet is a neutral site and will advertise accordingly. They just happen to host for GC women so you still have to research who you buy from.

I'd imagine an insurance company would be the last place gender ideology takes route because things like life insurance have to take into account lifespan and wishy thinking doesn't change the fact that women generally live longer than men.

It's great to see a health company knowing that humans are male or female incredible I had a 'whoop' moment
