Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

'The court heard that, at the time of the offence, Wallis was suffering from a "serious mental disorder" after coming out as transgender while a sitting MP, having become separated from her family and having publicly disclosed having been a victim of rape.'

A good example of the mental gymnastics required, to understand that in this case, a bloke committed a crime (which was not particularly heinous), because he realised he was a woman, which caused him mental anguish.

🙄

Is this the same man who was in court for abusing his ex-wife recently?

OP posts:

I missed that article at the time. His poor ex wife.

Narita Bahra KC told the court that her client was "having profound and emotional difficulties in completing the passing stage" of transitioning to become a woman, but accepts that the behaviour was "wrong".

Shortly after the final message was sent, Wallis was found by police and sectioned under the mental health act before being arrested and later charged.

Trying very hard not to laugh about the passing thingy

oh fuck it 😂😂😂

Rightsraptor · Yesterday 21:03

What's that about completing the passing stage of transitioning? I hadn't known it was a stage to be completed; I'd viewed it as something completely unattainable by 99.9% of men.

Coatsoff42 · Yesterday 21:32

The way he treated his wife was horrendous. The gambling addiction and passport altering is just chaotic behaviour, but he was a really nasty piece of work to his wife.

She has the thing that he’ll never have

Yes, its an odd sentence.

In this article it says he had an adjustment disorder. New term?

'Ms Bahra argued it was “unequivocal” that Wallis had been suffering from mental health difficulties at the time of the offending, partly brought on by their transitioning.

She also said Wallis was suffering from PTSD, a depressive disorder and an adjustment disorder.'

Looks like transitioning did not resolve this man’s mental health problems, but made them worse.

ArabellaScott · Today 09:21

Yes. I don't think I've seen someone say directly and openly that transitioning has led directly to someone having a breakdown, and/or committing crimes.

Often court cases have cited dysphoria as a reason for behaviour. But not 'transition'.

He's a deranged abusive arsehole. I notice they aren't mentioning he also crashed a car and fled.

BlueLegume · Today 09:43

I thought trans / body dismorphia wasn’t a mental illness.

INeedAPensieve · Today 09:52

His poor wife 😔 Sounds like it's a lot of mental health issues here but what a horrible impact it's had on her...

StellaAndCrow · Today 13:23

And Trans Reddit are of course livid about the BBC's "transphobic" reporting.

It's funny how so many transwomen seem so similar to abusive men.

He was a former Tory MP, there’s a public interest reason as well.

ArabellaScott · Today 13:29

The first (and I think so far the only) trans MP. An historic precedent.

To summarise Dr Jamie Wallis's exciting career to date:

  • He was company director for businesses promoting 'Sugar Daddies' and 'Quickie Divorces' and lied about it to the press
  • He was listed as director of 10 businesses that had over 800 complaints raised against them with Trading Standards.
  • He was arrested for 'driving while unfit', where he totally his car into a telegraph pole and ran away, hid at his millionaire Dad's house and claimed he was ill with Covid. The police have for force entry.
  • His dad escaped prosecution for obstruction of justice because the CPS filed the paperwork late.
  • He harrassed his ex hideously, saying he wants to ensure "She never has a happy moment again"
  • He's been sectioned more than once
  • Now falsifying documents to access gambling

And isn’t he a wonderful role model, an upstanding and civic minded individual, setting such a good example. 😬
