"when they have never even bothered to look at whether people on their own side are doing or saying the same thing."

And you think this is limited to trans supportive people? Because if so...

And please don't minimise Sandie's racism to just jokes - she openly admitted to using slurs about at least two other races/nationalities. Do you really believe someone like that stops their racism at just two?

Quite the opposite - based on the people I have known over the years I suspect in private, in banter she'd slag off pretty much everyone except her own crowd. For gods sake, there are people I know who would have been just as offensive about white people from the next town along. There were jokes about Hillsborough FFS!

The really important question is - do you have any evidence whatsoever she actually treated people differently?

murasaki · Yesterday 23:14

Yes, there's no evidence whatsoever that any racism impacted her practice at all.

BettyBooper · Yesterday 23:14

alcovecupboards · Yesterday 23:08

You are definitely confused. I'm quite content that the vile racist lost her cash grab against her union, and it was proved that it had nothing to do with her rights to single sex spaces, nor her views, and was simply because Sandie did not follow the rules.

No, you were happy she lost because you didn't like her views.

Are you saying that if those WhatsApp messages hadn't come out and she upheld your agreed moral character you'd be sad she'd lost? Because you believe Unions should support their female staff to have SSS?

That's the thing - I don't need it. She used racist slurs - openly and happily - and pretended she didn't know they were offensive. You may want to defend that - though I can only think of one reason why - but I don't. I wouldn't want her anywhere near me and my family.

Once again because you appear to be confused - this case wasn't about single sex spaces. She could have simply followed the rules - but she didn't.

No evidence it ever affected her practice then. Just hand wringing because you happen to know what this nurse said in private, while having no idea what the nurse next to her might have been saying to her friends.

I'm not defending her. I'm putting the condemnation into context because I think it's either incredibly sheltered, or simply opportunistic.

You said

Good. Awful woman. Has no business being at the forefront of the movement.

Awful woman.

You said 'Good' that she lost her case because you decided she's an 'awful woman '.

Not because of whether or not she followed the rules. Not on the merits of the case. But because you decided she's an 'awful woman '.

And yet so many on here are incapable of criticising Peggie's vile racism. Have you asked yourself why? Even you can't bring yourself to do it apparently.

Because it's not relevant.

People's rights to protection from discrimination under the Equality Act do not depend on them being nice people.

That's the thing about rights - they apply to everyone equally, even people you don't like.

If everybody hated you and decided you were 'vile' for whatever reason, you would still have rights. Would you like to change that?

Would you prefer for your human rights to depend on how nice or nasty the current zeitgeist considers your opinions to be? (Remember, it could change next week)

Or would you prefer to have human rights based on simply being human?

Well said. We only know this because of a smear campaign, which happened because she stood up for herself when harassed, victimised and discriminated against.

And FWIW it’s pretty clear to me which one it is. IMHO.

And we did discuss it in depth, at the time, on the tribunal thread. Which is still available to read for anyone interested.

I think if I were a nurse working in the UK, my takeaway from this case would be that the RCN are useless fuckers, & furthermore, their defence against future criticism would be that they are consistently useless fuckers, so couldn’t be expected to do a decent job of supporting their member even if they weren’t simultaneously captured by TRA lunacy.

& then I’d be reconsidering my subs.

Meanwhile, the sunlight continues to stream in, so brava, Sandie.

Agree with you. Disappointing for Sandie Peggy but RCN do not come away looking in anyway competent. Hopefully many of the thousands of women employed by the NHS will consider joining an alternative union.

Good lord, is someone trying to "win" on a Feminist board by being too cool to care about Feminism? 😂😂😂

Yep, you got us. We are so totally uncool that we not only care about women's rights, we actually care passionately about women's rights and will say so even though men and cooler women than we are think that's all a bit cringe, and we aren't even embrassed about it 😱

Sums it up nicely.

It might going forward if she returns to work is the point I'm making.

Everyone now knows she is a racist and many patients might have an issue with being seen by her.

That’s actually down to the Upton/Fife legal team, isn’t it?

Especially in spaces where the majority of women are okay with trans inclusive/genderist policies.

Who knows whether the majority of women are okay with trans inclusive/gendersit policies? I can't recall anyone ever soliciting my opinion. I would imagine that in fact a majority of women would not be OK with "trans inclusive" policies if they stopped to really think what it involved. I would say that we just hope it won't affect us - until we see a trans identifying man insisting that he belongs in our changing rooms.

fromorbit · Today 04:44

Not great Peggie lost this case, but the during the case a lot of useful detail was exposed which showed her union definitely failed to support her. It couldn't prove that the union's failure was due to prejudice against those who know biology. It did show they didn't provide support.

This detail could very useful in her upcoming Appeal.

By the way folks interesting to hear that if you say something racist then your opinions on sex/gender are irrelevant. Given the number of "trans" folk that are openly anti-Semitic/racist pushing that line is a choice. Someone tell Windy and Mr Sparkles racists can't speak on trans stuff.

StealthTroublemaker · Today 05:47

Lexibletheflexible · Yesterday 22:10

It isn't. Because what you think about whatever view I present is irrelevant to this point:

"Right but others would argue that GC person holds views that are actively harmful and/or commited X harmful conduct towards someone else, so that's why people say the things they say about them.

It's all subjective.

What you want me to do is present an example where you can then express your GC view. The thing is, I could give a totally.different example about immigration and it still be relevant to my point. A sizeable number of people think that if someone disagrees with them on what they consider a core value or issue, it's fair game to assume they are a terrible person and attack their character irrespective of their stance on the issue itself. This also extends to wishing and threatening harm in some cases.

So like when TRA issue rape threats, death threats and threats of violence to women for saying men cannot access female spaces, call women bigots and transphobes for defending their sex based rights and disrupt women meeting to discuss their rights? I mean, how many protests have we seen with placards saying “kill à terf” and “the only good terf is a dead one”? I do assume these are the people you are taking about….

Shedmistress · Today 06:13

If Sandie was that racist and homophobic, then why did none of her 'friends' report her before she asked a man to leave the changing rooms?

She obviously blended into the whole ethos of the hospital staff if she never stood out, and it took a trawl going back years and years to even find one 'example' of anything bad to discredit her.

A bit like waving a woman's underwear round in court to prove she wasn't raped.

People that do this are disgusting. Utterly vile.

Lexibletheflexible · Today 06:35

FlirtsWithRhinos · Yesterday 22:36

If the "poster" is me, that is not an accurate representation.

I dont remember who it was but they were definitely outraged by the fact someone who isnt GC thought poorly of someone who was.
