Queue for the women’s loo at a big Brighton event.

As per usual, women’s loo is rammed, huge queue.

No queue for the men’s.

Waiting to change a leaking tampon.

And, amongst others, there are 4 people ahead of me, clearly biologically male, presenting as female.

And later on, at the same event, unable to send my 10 year old to the loo alone because there are transwomen using the loos and I do not send my child into spaces to get undressed where there are biological men also getting undressed.

I have zero problems with them wanting to present as female. I do have a problem with them taking up female space.

I can’t challenge this, as a woman with a child as I put myself in a vulnerable position. Yet again made to feel vulnerable by the needs of a man.

And society tells me to put up and shut up.

Sigh.

It was a theatre event.

As a rape survivor - the attack was carried out in a public place by a man I didn't know - I don't want to be anywhere in a vulnerable position, ie in a state of undress, with men I don't know. While no woman ever needs to give a reason why they don't want to be in this position - not consenting to it is enough - that's a pretty sound reason for why I, personally, do not wish to be. And bearing in mind that one in four women have been victims of sexual assault, there will be millions of women who feel the same.

Unlike you I do mind men presenting as women: when they are dressed in a sexualised way in a context where the other women ( and men) are dressed smartly and modestly. There is one such in the makeup and creams floor of a well known department shop. I consider that to be bringing your sexual fetish to work. Transvestitism.

On the contrary, there's a trend now for 'not passing'. Here's two lovely examples of trans identifying males who don't even bother to try, because they know they can make women much more uncomfortable by 'expressing their gender' this way. Very often the goal is to stand out - it's a form of aggression and dominance without having to say a word.

Try reading correctly before commenting

So you seem to be arguing to allow some men to access female spaces. Can you explain how this will benefit women? How will making a space mixed sex keep women safer?
If spaces are made mixed sex by allowing some males in, how will all males not be allowed in?

So TPA’s best shot (ie to paraphrase, nothing to see here) was deleted - thus leaving lurkers to imagine TPA had made some deeply incisive argument…..or maybe not 😆
