I can’t see a thread about this, so thought I’d bring it to the board’s attention.

Linda Williams, a Met detective, was raped by PC David Carrick in 2004. The David Carrick currently serving life for sexual offences against a total of twelve women. She has waived her anonymity to call for the Met Commissioner Mark Rowley to resign, after suffering years of PTSD, and says she has no faith in the police to deal with rapes correctly, despite working as a rape investigation officer herself and encouraging victims to pursue justice.

From the article:
“The "worst thing", she says, was when lawyers acting for the Met commissioner challenged the severity of her PTSD on the basis that she had been raped only once.”

For fuck’s sake.

Linda Williams looks pensively into the camera lens, her head and shoulders visible. She is standing in a green field with a line of trees in the background. She has short dark curly hair and wears a black necklace with a silver heart.

Met detective raped by fellow officer says police handling 'like being raped all over again'

Linda Williams was attacked by David Carrick, who was jailed in 2023 for sexual offences against 12 women.

Yep, this will help the police in their campaigns to get women to report rape

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/10/2026 12:47

That’s horrific.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/10/2026 12:49

Do they challenge PTSD of bomb survivors on the basis that they’ve only been blown up once?

ProfessorRedshoeblueshoe · 23/10/2026 12:56

WTF

lcakethereforeIam · 23/10/2026 13:03

This is so sad Flowers

Linda, now 60, says the mental and emotional impact of the rape has been vast.
She has led a lonely life, she says, focused primarily on her work and pets. She has not had a relationship with a man since the day she was attacked and says she has missed out on having a family.

That she was able to function at all after the rape being used against her is just...just...😡

I saw the headlines but didn't realise it was Carrick again. Bloody Met Police.

That poor woman and WTF to raped only once? This is from the school of that idiot Green Q who goes around saying rape is a spectrum and should be destigmatised.

inkymoose · 23/10/2026 15:06

A shocking and appalling account from courageous Linda. She has suffered for all those years for being attacked and raped, something done to her by a predator, outside her control. It's not surprising that she did not report it to the Met. Look what the police lawyers did to her when she eventually went to Court.

Linda, her family and friends and colleagues, deserves better.

Yes it’s both enraging and heartbreaking in equal measure.
