I'm referring to women's actual experiences with trans women here just like Rowling was to explain why they don't feel threatened.

You do understand the difference between data points & personal experiences don't you?

Rowling is frustrated that women don't agree with her conclusions using her own experiences to prove them whilst at the same time discounting their experiences with trans women.

Its an incoherent position.

Edited

Not what she was saying at all. She was saying that some women have had no negative experiences but have never been put in the position of those who have been forced to change in the same room as them, for example. And that often the more privileged jobs don't tend to involve having to change your clothes.

And that she judges them for their lack of empathy with these women. And I agree with her.

Why do you think we should give more weighting to the 'it's not a problem' view over the lived experience of it being a problem?

For the love of god.

Not all women have the same personal experiences is the point & why would they given trans women are .25% of the population? That's why they don't care about this issue.

And this is part of the reason why this panic is largely ignored regardless of legal changes because experience matters & there's no amount of fear mongering that can change that.

There are no legal changes, just a reminder of what the law actually was.

Trans women are men. Men aren’t .25% of the population.

Rowling is making an assumption to the motives that she provides zero evidence for. Blaming it all on 'elites' is a fashionable go to these days as a means of diminishing public support for cultural values you don't agree with.

Like all good gender critical 'feminists' (read: patriarchal mentality) she doesn't believe women are capable individual agency.

But you dismissed my actual experience with trans women. The one before the sex offender assaulted my colleague, waved his penis and called me things I’ve never been called by a woman. Not all trans women of course. Just like NAMALT. I have a lovely male partner (he’s got long hair, I think he’s male). Males as a sex class are problematic though, statistically so. Even the ones that larp as women. Truth hurts.

I never dismissed any such thing. I'm simply explaining that conclusions reached from personal experiences works both ways & as such JKR doesn't understand the inconsistency of her own position.

Are you referring to women's actual experiences with trans women like Isla Bryson, Paris Green, Karen White, Serenity Johnston, Paula Stanton, Safiya Haverty, Kalani Jay, Karla Whiteoak, Scarlett Lee, Amelia Connolly, Lucy Dean, Kairah Kelly ...? (I could go on for pages, but I'm eating)

But we don't arrange society/law around things having not happened to us personally do we. I could say I've never been mugged. So I don't see why it should be a crime.

That would be mad.

Oh.

You have to hand it to this one, he keeps on digging. Might hit Australia soon, I think he'd prefer it there.

We already have the lovely Dr Shipton thanks, no more of your undesirable exports please!

Women don't want men in their spaces. Potential rapists or non-potential rapists. None of them.

not even one.

She’s explaining her position as a woman with no funds or privilege (at the time) when faced with violence at the hands of a man, thus realising how distressing it is/was and the importance of single SEX spaces as a result .

And you are arguing against this? Really?? REALLY?

Datun · 22/10/2026 00:07

I'm still snorting how anyone can hear Churchill say he loves it when a plan comes together.

😁

And then, not getting that JKR says she's as much like Churchill as Willoughby is a woman. How can you not get that!

Datun · 22/10/2026 00:08

And as a PP pointed out, it just has to go in the documentary, right?

😁

And there are many instances of women who are murderers, child & domestic abusers but not everyone is afraid of women because that's not their personal experience.

That you can't accept that different people have different experiences that shape their understanding is delusional.

Manyanamanyana · 22/10/2026 00:12

CoolforKats · 21/10/2026 23:30

The point you are missing is we don't fear all men the same. Being alone with a old man or gay man or well dressed man or trans woman doesn't inspire the fear in people on the ground hence the support of trans women.

JKR's generalisations about men don't work in reality when it comes to personal experiences. Context matters.

I think you've made a salient point here.
TRAs or supporters of trans-identified men in womens spaces don't personally feel fear of men in the same way a survivors of a range of violations might.
Therefore, because it's OK for them personally, they feel entitled to sign away all other womens rights, effectively providing blanket consent to the legal destruction of female rights, language, spaces, sports and services.
Did I get that right?
Those of us holding the line reserve our empathy for the other women, whose consent has not been sought, and whose lives are impacted in ways the TRAs simply do not consider.
How does that make us hateful?

That's fine, we have mixed sex toilets for people who don't mind. Just as long as you understand that the people do mind have their own space.

Not very many, which is why female perpetrators of violent crime make the news.

Good to see you distinguish between women and 'transwomen', though! Nice one.

MarcTheGenderSkeptic · 22/10/2026 00:19

CoolforKats · 21/10/2026 21:56

So what's the real reason for the 'update'? To warm over cold left overs? I think not. This is a highly strategic individual.

Maybe JKR is raging that the trans panic has lost steam/public interest (read: her personal relevance as defender of the faith) & this is a desperate attempt resuscitate it? The minions have lost interest in their shiny toy & moved on to other rage bait?

Oh well, such is the life span of a news cycle nowadays that even a billionaire can't buy…

Edited

Ah, that's right, Rowling is angry because consensus is breaking for the GC worldview ie science and common sense, there's less and less cancel culture, no debate is over, the SC ruling is finally being followed by more organisations.
I mean, she must be really pissed off by all that.
Who can blame her for returning to highlight the illiberalism you seem to champion?
She's got more self control in crowing about things than TRAs had at the high point of your ideological capture

Oh I’ve met many a horrible female. I’d still rather get off the bus late at night with a woman than a man (including the ones wearing feminine dress).

Because the generalisation smears all trans people as a threat. Using a minority group to represent the majority is hateful. Just ask muslims who get smeared as terrorists or Jews who get smeared as degenerate globalists or black people that get smeared s criminals.

Yes, someone who writes,
'old man or gay man or well dressed man or trans woman'
knows transwomen are men.

If women committed murder to the extent that men do, we would have reason to feel more afraid.

Depends on the man. I was once hit by an enormous wave at the beach & landed in an old man's lap. It was embarrassing but hardly the same thing as a younger man.

Well if we’re going down that road then more men don’t commit crimes than the ones that do. Are you outraged that males. As a sex class. Are the reason single sex spaces exist in the first place?
