Little Owen Jones on Triggernometry

I know he's a big 'favourite' 🙄 on this board. He's being interviewed about his new book, which is about neoliberalism. I'm only 20 minutes in but my gosh. He's extremely nervous, twitchy, seems wired and has interrupted Konstantin about 10 times already. He doesn't seem able to let anyone else finish a sentence. It's all quite strange and mildly amusing

Nothing so far about gender ideology but I will be surprised if it doesn't come up at some point

He’s awful. I recall then 14 year old dd reading his book “Chavs”. She summed it up perfectly as a very badly written persuasive essay.

He's called Talcum X for a reason.

His explanation is the amphetamines he's on for ADHD.

Only the very gullible would believe that explanation

Can't imagine what type of a person you would have to be to consider buying a book he wrote

I mean in what sense does he radiate anything that says I really what to hear more of that this guy has to say on a subject

Arg just turned it off! And I’ll usually listen to anything through to the bitter end. Both sides were really unappealing. I think Owen deserves some credit for engaging with a different audience to discuss his ideas, actually. Konstantin increasingly likes the sound of his own voice though, and between the two of them there just a bit too much masculine posturing (we are not really either of their target audience, after all, but felt this one really was not for me).

I thought I'd misheard that they were having Little Owen Jones on but seems it is true! He is mostly off his tits on coke isnt he?

Christ Alive, he's such a plum. One of the most obnoxious guests I've ever seen on Triggernometry for sure. Either twitching / fidgeting / unable to sit still, or jumping down Konstantin's throat and refusing to allow him to finish a sentence. KK did bang on a bit but I thought he was a saint to remain polite and civil throughout and not lose his shit

Francis got involved in one early conversation about Venezuela (of course!) and then seemed to quietly drift off to his happy place 😁 and I can't say I blame him

There were some points on neoliberalism where I was trying to agree with OJ but he was such an insufferable tit I started to argue the other side in my head. He was vile I can’t see how anyone can find him convincing, even when he is making reasonable points he is so busy playing gotcha games and laying traps to ‘win’ that any sense he is making dissipates.
I loath Reform with a passion but would be tempted to vote for them just to piss OJ off. Yes I know how childish that is…

But if you get the titration right you get less twitchy with amphetamines prescribed for ADHD.

He does not come off as healthy at all, that's for sure.

ADHD meds can reduce symptoms but they're not an ADHD panacea... In situations where adrenaline / cortisol levels can run high (such as being on a panel) they're going to be less effective.

I've been accused many a time of some the behaviours OJ's apparently displayed. The only thing that helps aren't my adhd meds but taking a beta blocker.

Saying that, I can't stand OJ... I can spot his adhd traits a mile away, and its not them that makes him insufferable 🤣

Watching him in that interview, constantly interrupting/attributing negative motives to his interviewer/not actually listening to what was being said to him/refusing to answer direct questions, he's the Platonic Ideal of a Gish Gallop. He has no interest in actually using debate and discussion to arrive at any idea of truth or compromise, he just wants to 'win'.

What are you suggesting?

I've never noticed it before but he has shades of Alan Partridge there.

It reminds me of his interview with Piers Morgan where he was, erm, excitable.
