Anyone fancy pointing out that the Olympic Boxing people have started sex-testing athletes?

So they are a bit late.

Sex-testing female athletes had always been done.

And Lin Yu-Ting has passed these new ones. I see zero apologies from the lowlifes who piled on her and called her a man who likes hitting women. Nothing from JKR.

The misogyny towards Lin and other WOC athletes on here is just horrible.

Fighting VAWG matters. Being snippy about female athletes is not part of that.

That's an impressive amount of wrong in just one comment.

1 - there was no sex testing for boxing at the 2024 Olympics - a female passport was enough

2 - JKR made no comment about Lin Yu-Ting, only about Imane Khelif

3 - Imane Khelif has subsequently confirmed he's genetically male (XY with SRY) and that he has male levels of testosterone

4 - that means there was indeed at least one man punching women as part of the 2024 Olympics, making it an example of male VAWG

5 - this male VAWG was defended by Jolyon Maugham and the GLP, hence the relevance

Hahaha! He was ‘tested’ by his own medics who had a very clear agenda. When he undergoes an open, honest sex screening that comes back as showing him to be female then I’ll eat my words. Until such time, most sane people know that there is no proof that he’s female.

It look like Lin has been cleared under an additional protocol following testing for presence of the Y chromosome
"Athletes that are deemed to be male at birth, as evidenced by the presence of Y chromosome... or with a difference of sexual development (DSD) where male androgenization occurs, will be eligible to compete in the male category. Athletes that are deemed to be female at birth... or with a DSD where male androgenization does not occur, will be eligible to compete in the female category."

So Lin has has been put in the second category, males with a DSD where androgenization does not occur'.

What I take from that is that Lin is not sufficiently male to be excluded from women's boxing.

It's highly unlikely that anyone would claim that Khelif did not go through androgenization, but nothing would surprise me!

Sex testing for female athletes was discontinued in the 1990s, before Lin was even in primary school. At least check your facts before holding forth.

The BBC Sport article on this makes it clear that it was only after an appeal.

World Boxing's policy includes an appeal process so boxers that screen positive for the SRY gene can lodge an appeal and provide supporting evidence.

As you suggest CAIS is a contender.

Lin Yu-Ting hasn't "passed the new ones" in the sense of being found to be female. He's been accepted on the SRY-positive pathway which allows for someone who is male to compete in the female category if, in the committee's opinion, it's deemed the degree of unfair advantage he has is within acceptable limits.
