I've been listening to the brilliant 'This isn't working' podcast Mentioned on another thread) and it gives such an insight into the orogins of this strange period in our culture. But as it is focussed on businesses and the workplace, I was wondering if anyne can recommend anything as good but specifically for schools?
I'm a teacher in a girls secondary and despite there being clear guidance (in line with the Equality Act) that no teacher is obliged to support a childs delusion/pretend that its possible to change sex, it seems that schools are not getting the memo. We still recieve blunt emails about pupils stating 'transgender pupil - male pronouns please'. It's still very much the case that I would be signalling that I am a problem by refusing to go along with this.

Transgender Trend often have interviews etc and as they're school / safeguarding centred they can be very informative

Did your safeguarding training reflect the changes in KCSIE? Does the PSHE programme reflect the new guidance about not teaching gender identity ss a fact etc? Because that gives you the opportunity to raise "helpful" concerns about the school "unintentionally" breaching statutory guidance.

Transgender Trend is a UK organisation advocating for evidence-based care of gender dysphoric children and science-based teaching in schools.

Are you wanting the podcast for yourself or to share with colleagues?

I don’t have any in mind sorry but wondering what your aim is - to hone your personal arguments and/or to raise with senior leadership etc? Or?

Am wondering if there is any route you can take anonymously if it’s a hostile environment?

Thanks for the replies

I wasn't aware of transgender trend - that's a good call. Re KCSIE - I think it applies to England/Wales and I'm in NI. We have had no training of any sort on the subject and there isn't a school policy about it. We have a social worker, two counsellors and six dedicated pastoral teachers and it's just decided between them and the rest of us are instructed to use opposite pronouns. So we get this nonsense situation where I'm discussing a pupil with a colleague and I'm saying 'she' and they're saying 'he' and we're tying ourselves in linguistic knots.

Perhaps there is an anonymous route - thanks for the idea. All I would like is for parents to be told that, while they can request that other pupils and staff use new pronouns, they can't demand it.
