Army still at it!

I’ve posted two pictures of a Facebook post where a female serving member of the army is asking for her rights about having men in private spaces.

Sadly her post in the Servicewomen Army Services Network Facebook page wasn’t approved so she had to go to this one.

It‘s so upsetting that this is still going on! The law is very clear as we all know as do Army Legal!

On a good note I am involved with an army charity that introduced a women’s group/event a few months ago. There was kick back about trans women not being allowed to attend and Army Legal were quite clear about the law and said they could not attend.

The charity offered a similar group/event for army trans women and I think you can guess how many attended.

How many attended out of how many trans women enlisted in the army?

I also think by posting this facebook post here from a group barely any of us will be in and perhaps may even be closed, you are compromising the author's anonymity. Something she said was very important to her.

I don’t actually understand how you can expect single sex facilities. My dd is in the armed forces and they have private facilities but mixed ie toilets and showers are shared but each has a lock on the door. Often she is the only female officer, she shares sleeping accommodation with men, it isn’t an issue. She says she is treated very well. On base it’s different but deployed facilities are necessarily sparse

Lexibletheflexible · 03/10/2026 09:08

I just think taking a post where the woman asked it to be anonymous and then posting it here kind of goes against what she asked but if you think it's more important to show that someone in the army is upset about trans women, then I guess you could say her privacy/safety/anonymity doesn't matter more than having this thread. So go and drag up more posts from.facebook groups and put the author's at risk.

I think it is the same in the navy.

It’s a public group, it popped up on my timeline as well for some bizarre reason (not in forces and don’t comment on trans issues on FB!)

Yes but the person concerned wanted it there and to be anonymous. We now know another group they posted it in, too. I think it defeats the object tbh. If anything, this is going to drive people who take objection to this poster's views towards them and possibly end up outing them.

BirdLandedonmyHead · 03/10/2026 09:15

Its already on Mumsnet.

For clarity, one of the issues raised was the trans identified member veing allowed to observe female servicewomen during compulsory drugs testing i.e watching them pee in a cup.

On some exercises, service personnel will also share hotel rooms, including beds.

It's a public page with 156k followers. I follow it myself, it's a brilliant page where the organiser is basically the armed forces one man trade union. She messaged that page asking for help on purpose.

What's especially interesting is that the page have now reported receiving numerous threats from TRAs. Shocker.

And the MOST interesting thing is that a service lawyer has piped up and confirmed sex matters and offered to put her in touch with the right people to get this sorted.

No, ships are separated accommodation with mens and women's messes for sleeping. You do have to walk down shared corridors to single sex showers.

Submarines are slightly more difficult but still separated sleeping quarters.

Oh excellent Green that the Service Lawyer posted. I didn’t see that. As you say that page has a huge following so hopefully more service women can read the comments, see they are not alone and can contact the right department for advice!

Good to see this getting publicity. The Army's reputation for enabling sexual violence against women is appalling, so it's no surprise to see AGP men being prioritised. The fact the TIM was allowed to supervise women undergoing urine tests tells you everything you need to know about how powerful these men are.

Just as in civilian life, challenging them (until recently) has seemed impossible. Link to the other thread discussing this.

Probably because people like the OP here have spread around the post on other sites despite the author wanting anonymity. Well done!

That sounds positive about the lawyer/Sex Matters.
