Quite interesting psychological mechanism. I know contempt is seen as poisonous in relationships - once somebody demonstrates contempt it has become a relationship of hostility, and it's very hard to recover from that.

One could see it as a defensive stance. It's a sort of passive aggressive attack, an attempt to make yourself feel distanced from and thus protected from the 'other'.

This is particularly ridiculous given the sheer volume of Pride and "progress" flag related tat available. The flag which made people who are not white realise they weren't included in the origional rainbow flag but it's ok, because they can be othered onto this one! While people with dsds found they were included.
