The pasty sausage stew redolent of the ‘manel’ (the all-male panel) driving forward the Government’s progress for LGBT+ people

Picture a trans activist. You probably imagine a teenage furry raging from his gaming chair, or a self-consciously zany librarian with infected-looking piercings. Not seven men, as grey as their suits, gathered round a boardroom table.

Yet when the Government drew back the rainbow curtain this week, that was what it revealed: not the usual online oddballs, nor the much-derided liberal white women supposedly responsible for every progressive folly, but a group that looked more like insurance brokers than gender revolutionaries.

On Tuesday, the Office for Equality and Opportunity posted photographs on LinkedIn of a lobbying session, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the men “driving forward the Government’s progress for LGBT+ people”. The now-deleted post boasted of the OEO’s “commitment to banning harmful Conversion Practices, and delivering a successful European IDAHOBIT+ Forum in 2027.”

The LGBT+ stakeholders included Simon Lightwood MP, the Equalities Minister, and Lord Collins, the UK’s Special Envoy for LGBT+ Rights.

Going back to the main post, it reminds me of those lovely Saudi Arabian women’s rights conferences run without any of those pesky women (so much nicer). Alex Sobel is going to be an utter disaster in this role.

And yes, any old fashioned lefty who thinks the material basis of oppression is important - that it matters what you pay people or what their terms and conditions are, should also realise that women are disadvantaged for material reasons, that it is not possible for a man to buy himself into womanhood by shelling out for drugs or a bit of lippy. Sadly Queer Theory’s dominance has challenged traditional Marxist analysis (not very well I think) so now we have the irony of some lefties focusing on consumption rather than material conditions. No, it doesn’t make sense to me either.

I'd quite like a lot of these men to be forced to sit through a showing of Made In Dagenham, and then to have to write an essay on 'have the attitudes of politically left men shifted at all in this time to somewhere any better?'

I'm not sure. I don't live in the UK. Unfortunately lots of men and women support gender ideology. We could have had a whole panel of women and they could still vote to remove womens rights. I care less about the gender of the panel and more about the quality of the decisions being made.

Having said that they probably could have found a more diverse panel (although I am against quotas). Australia quotas have been terrible (women in parliament have unfortunately lead the push to embed gender ideology in law)

Edited

The whole point is that they don't want a more diverse panel, because its a mens rights movement.

You can keep telling us more women are for this but it is being run by men. As evidenced in the original post.

Many people who answer the surveys that 'prove' women love it is because they dont understand the mangled syntax of the questions they were asked, as evidenced by the UK census having to be completely disregarded.

I think it's dismantling both mens and womens rights. Women are dispropriately affected but I don't think that is the intention of activists, more of a byproduct of biological difference. If the roles were reversed I have no doubt they would be fighting just as hard to get women in mens spaces. Again it is ok for people on the same side to have the same goal whilst approaching it from different angles (I'm a pretty active GC activist IRL).

The question is, why aren’t they fighting for the right of female people (trans men) to be in male spaces?

Is it because transwomen (male) are ranked higher than transmen (female) in the trans pecking order?

Whose rights are being centred? Male people.

Hence the claim of many that the “trans and queer” world also has an element of misogyny to it, and feminists rightly see this as another space where female people are treated as second class.

PeachyDaisy · 27/09/2026 15:18

Because the women's rights activists are fighting to keep men out of women's spaces, they don't care much as much about transmen. If they were fighting/campaigning to keep women out of men's spaces, TRA would be objecting to that.

I'm less concerned about a single panel and I'm more concerned about the leaders who haver been pushing for gender ideology, a lot of whom are women (Sturgeon, Whithome, Creasey, Jardin, AOC, Elgin etc). In my country (Australia), women are heavily represented at all the counter-protests for LWS I attend as well as the fact it was a woman (Julia Gillard) our changed our laws to let transwomen enter women's spaces. I just don't think it is accurate to say that it is only men who are leading this movement.

Every survey I have ever seen shows women as being slightly more in favour of so-called trans rights, regardless of how simply/clearly you word the question. I don't like it but it unfortunately seems to be a pretty clear trend. I am open to other data if you have it though.

We've been pointing out the damage these handmaids have done for years, including your traitor Gillard, you've got a long way to go to catch up.

We can argue against the patriarchy and the handmaids at the same time, it's not one or the other it's both at the same time. We still recognise that men, Wokie Blokie Lefties in particular, are still as dangerous to women rights as the self-serving, greasy pole climbing women.

There are definitely people on here who are arguing that the trans movement is being run by men and that it is only men who support it. That is the statement I disagree with. I don't personally use the words patriarchy/handmaidens myself, I just criticise anyone who supports the movement (man or woman).

Women's rights activists would not be wanting to fight to put female people i to more damger by insisting they go into male spaces.

Again, thats the whole point.

Every survey ive read where it asks about 'trans people' fails to explain what trans is, and who the people are that they are actually talking about. Hence complete bafflement from the respondents. If they asked plain and simple questions they would get a completely different answer.

They dont ask 'do you support men who say they are women to use female toilets and changing rooms', they ask some garbled words with the word 'women' in it which of course people wont know what it is that is being actually asked because the trick is part of the survey result required. Not everyone is up on the activist lingo that changes every week or so.

Given how captured Aus is, you are losing, so you may want to reconsider your strategy if you want to win back your rights, the rights that were given away by a self-serving handmaiden.
You can't have a rational conversation with an irrational person, intelligence won't defeat stupidity only courage will, courage like Sall Grover has.

PeachyDaisy · 27/09/2026 18:08

Every survey ive read where it asks about 'trans people' fails to explain what trans is, and who the people are that they are actually talking about.

I know there are surveys that have done this (explained the words trans women, or used trans identifying men). The trend still holds that women slightly support trans rights more than men even when you explain the terms. They buy into it more because they tend to be more supportive of left-wing causes, not just this one.

I think trying to imply that women only support this issue because they are stupid/confused/misinformed to me is unhelpful. Most women support it for the same reason men do: They have bought into the lies of gender ideology.

Women's rights activists would not be wanting to fight to put female people i to more damger by insisting they go into male spaces.

I think you have this mixed up. I'm part of a woman's group that organises protests with the slogan "keep men out of women's spaces." We get counterprotesters.

If we changed our slogan to "keep women out of men's spaces", I have no doubt the same counterprotesters would show up. I don't think changing it to be about transmen would dampen the opposition we face.

you may want to reconsider your strategy if you want to win back your rights,

I just don't use the term handmaiden as it feel counterproductive and like more on personal attack then attacking the ideology (which is what I am fighting, I don't personally hate the people pushing it). But it is other peoples choice if they wish to use that term

Well you must admit, a person would have to be some kind of weird and angry to issue threats to women and advocate them being “raped with splintery rolling pins” just for refusing to say men are not women. It’s the same kind of weird as Andrew Tate et al think. They believe women are second class citizens who should not have any rights, and exist to be props to men and I think the TRA are of the same I’ll. two sides of the same shit biscuit.

What do incels and some trans women have in common? They’re both jealous of cis women in some way. Womb envy, “women get more attention” etc etc.

Had a man rant one time about how cis women “trap” men in marriages by poking holes in condoms etc to “baby trap” men, and then he turned around and became a transwoman. Rubbed me entirely the wrong way.

I think you misunderstood what i meant because i was not being clear enough. I know that women, who support primarily leftist policies are more likely to support the trans movement. This i would never deny. When i said it was run by men for men, what i really mean is that women tend to gravitate towards what makes males happy and cater to male needs more than their own. Liberal choice feminists are basically the trad wives of the left wing. And imo the trans women are still running the actual show, with massive flocks of cis women supporting their needs every step of the way.

I’ve met a cis girl who was raped by a trans woman before and she still perceived her rapist as a “woman with a dick”. This is more or less what I’m talking about when i say that men run this, and women follow in large droves. It’s surreal and frustrating.

Rhamnusia · 30/09/2026 02:46

Rollingpinofdoom · 27/09/2026 05:12

I think you’ll find it’s the trans community who are the women haters. You seem a bit confused. @PeachyDaisy is very angry (and rightly so) at those women who gave away women’s rights . By siding with the ‘trans community” you are in fact, being lumped with women haters. I mean, they scream rape threats and death threats at women for refusing to give up their rights. You don’t get much more women hating than that with outbactually committing the crimes.

I’m now extremely confused because I’m not siding with the trans community at all and I’m well aware that they’re on a brigade to take our rights? Have you guys even been reading what I post? I’m super confused now?

Also PeachyDaisy initially said that they weren’t a feminist, and that’s why i made that comment. Soooo. Guess i was apparently lied to.

Never said I hate women nor feminism, but I call myself a egalitarian over a feminist. I don't see this issue as a feminist one.

As to why I'm posting here, I'm gender critical. Unfortunately expressing gender critical views on reddit got me banned and I know of no other social media platform that allows GC women to post without quickly banning them. So my options are limited. Luckily for me, I don't think you have to be a feminist to be allowed to post here.

I guess I find that odd. But interesting. What makes you see this as not a feminist movement? I feel like i find it plenty feminist.

There are definitely feminists in it, but I don't think you have to be a feminist to be GC. I am motivated by the principle of single sex spaces. It's not soley about keeping transwomen out of womens spaces for me, it is about preserving single sex spaces (which is why I also fight to keep transmen out of mens spaces).
