Yes, we all suffer from patriarchy (except perhaps the 1% making their billions), but nevertheless I would be cautious in deciding whether to hire someone I felt might hold strident views. On any issue.
I think that would include people who were zealous about politics, left or right, or about religion etc but that would also include potential candidates zealous about gender ideology.
This is based on past experience when I was involved with a small community based organisation and responsible for hiring. For example, I did hire someone who was a proponent of GI, completely inexperienced in the industry but came across well in the interview.
Then once hired, this person set about trying to force changes in the organisation including making the toilets gender neutral, wanting changes to the organisational communications, policy wording etc to also reflect GI views. Changes that were either illegal or would’ve cost a lot of time and money all to suit their particular worldview. They were breathtakingly self centred and seemingly incapable of understanding how the changes they tried to insist on could negatively impact others.
It was tiresome and annoying to have numerous conversations with someone who had not invested any time, knowledge, money or resources into the organisation and yet was detracting from the crucial matter of financial survival. So, yes, I would be cautious in terms of future hires. Once burnt…
