(cant find anything about this, although there are other threads about situation in Australia - sorry if it has already been posted)

United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls Reem Alsalem has used a Melbourne conference to challenge Australia’s direction on surrogacy, biological sex and paediatric gender medicine, declaring that international law does not give anyone a right to obtain a child “using whatever means”.

Speaking at the In the Name of the Child conference, Alsalem said there is no right to a genetically related child simply because an adult wants one. She has called for surrogacy to be abolished, describing it as a patriarchal system that commodifies women and children and comparing its demand-driven exploitation of women’s bodies with prostitution.

Alsalem also called for Australia’s Sex Discrimination Act to define sex as biological sex and said Australia was “absolutely out of step” with international evidence and the growing shift towards caution over puberty blockers and other medical interventions for gender-distressed children. She backed an independent inquiry into the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, including its relationships with transgender advocacy groups and its treatment of doctors who challenge prevailing gender-medicine practices. She also condemned threats against women’s rights advocates Sall Grover and Kirralie Smith as having “no place in democratic societies”.

These are not warnings coming from a fringe commentator. They are coming from the UN’s independent expert tasked specifically with examining violence against women and girls. Canberra is now being told directly that women’s biological sex requires stronger legal protection, children deserve greater caution before medicalisation and no adult desire for parenthood creates an entitlement to another woman’s reproductive capacity. Those warnings deserve scrutiny, not political avoidance.

Thanks for the link, I hope The Yarn succeeds in bring more independent journalism to Aus, from what's been posted on MN's the MSM there is pretty captured downunder, so they could do with an unbiased source paying attention to things.
I think RA was in Aus a couple of years ago, blasting them for remove sex as a protected characteristic, unfortunately it doesn't seem to changed anything. With any luck continuing to highlight their shoddy record might get through eventually. There may be more ears willing to listen in Canberra nowadays. 🤞
