Are any women's groups challenging early release reviews for sex offenders?

Good afternoon, I haven’t been on here for quite a while and cannot remember what previous username I used apologies.

Some may remember I was battling towards a conviction of a man for a serious crime and did eventually succeed after 6 very long years. I thought that it was done, over and I could begin to move on.

But recently I have started to receive letters saying his sentence is being reviewed due to the change in government policy around early release.

I wondered if this is something any women’s groups had picked up on and if there was any collective voice I could join? It’s just so very wrong that it takes all of you to get even the chance of sexual violence being prosecuted let alone convicted and now they can just undo it all anyway?

I'm so sorry for the distress this is causing you 💐. I know womensaid.org.uk are campaigning on behalf of dv survivors whose abusers are potentially eligible to be included in the early release scheme.

I dont think there is an organised campaign, and the media has focused on survivors telling their stories.

Without asking you to talk about anything you dont want to, you can seek support from both Women's Aid have online directories of local services.

There are 2 petitions on the Parliament web site. As we aren't meant to link to petitions I can say that one is called Abolish early release for sex offenders and murderers and the other is called Make those convicted for domestic abuse ineligible for early release

Although even if they get enough signatories to triggers a response from the Government in time to change what is happening. But maybe if enough did sign?

Is there a way that you can find out if someone is due to be released under this scheme or is still in prison? (Sorry for hijacking) My friend was murdered tears ago and his killers were sentences to 30+years. One in particular was an evil bastard and I don't think prison would change him. I'd hate to find out he was being released early.
