I see Jennifer Saunders is promoting the latest Omaze draw, and the charity is Wellbeing of Women.

Having looked at their website, it does seem to be a charity ACTUALLY for women (mentions trans men - in the context of them having periods).

Interesting that Jennifer Saunders is doing something so completely for women, when one suspects Dawn French might be more... mealy mouthed about "well, we're basically ALL women aren't we?"

That sounds like an excellent cause. Thanks for sharing and good for Jennifer.

Although looking at the health issues they cover they are in relation to biological females.

But maybe we should keep quiet, we dont want the TRAs launching a campaign against Omaze!

It's a tight-knit partnership and people are free to comment on the apparent difference if they want.

That’s a relief. It’s always disappointing when someone you’d assumed was clever turns out to be dim.

“French and Saunders” have been an institution for 30+ years and remain a working partnership and, I believe, close friends… which is great.

Of course people are going to compare them when one of them speaks out on issues (or noticeably doesn’t).

Why? They're not the same person, they're entitled to have different views and it would be a bit strange if they didnt.

Of course they are. But in the same way, if there is a divisive issue and they’re on opposite sides of the fence, it’s interesting, as they are public figures and clearly real-life friends.

Like if someone who was a vehement anti-abortionist was besties with someone who worked for Marie Stopes.

Anyway, I’ve just entered the draw so well done Omaze and I expect I’ll be logging on from Cornwall soon.

That seems a very reasonable position. Normally written literature for women and girls that doesn't treat our sex as a dirty word, with an individualised approach for trans-identified women and girls which is sensitive to their distress regarding their sex. Obviously some of the language like sex 'assigned at birth' is nonsense activist lingo but it's a step in the right direction.

I am enjoying the triggered posts saying that's what's wrong with this thread is that either Jennifer Saunders or the people posting need to STFU.

Oh dear. The house in Cornwall is beautiful but would be totally impractical for us. I dont enter prize draws as it's a wate of money but I was sorely tempted because it's such a lovely property and now you tell me it's supporting a sensible charity. I might have to cave and enter.

Had a very stressful conversation with DH last night where we couldn't decide when we win the house, whether to uproot the children's education to move down there, or sell it (would it even be easy to sell a house like that?), or to AirBNB it. Decided that would be an awful lot of work and big decisions either way, and we weren't really in a place where we wanted so much upheaval.

Reluctantly decided it's for the best if we don't win.

However, we're delighted for an excellent charity to have some money.

In most cases of those who win prizes like this they get sold or rented out. So look at it that way. Maybe a nice sum in the bank, or a steady income.

(No one talks about the cost of maintaining such beautiful houses!)
