Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence was 29 July 2025. It resumed again over 1 to 2 September for closing submissions.
Following handing down of the judgment on 8 December 2025, on 11 December 2025, it was announced by Sandie Peggie and her legal team that they would be pursuing an appeal and it was reported on 3 August 2026 that leave to appeal had been granted with an expectation that the appeal proceedings could take place in court early next year (2027).

As she is a named defendant in an ongoing highly public series of crt cases with global notoriety only an idiot would employ her in any role let alone a managerial position.

Upton's dad, Jeremy worked at St Andrews as Deputy director of Library services, until he moved to Edinburgh in 2015.

So there will be plenty of connections there that led to the nomination of Potter's honorary professorship.

Presumably Fife College will be happy to draw on Potter's connections in her FE governor role and strengthen their own links with funnelling their students to University or into healthcare roles through Access courses, health and social care etc

So, while she deserves no special honour, Potter may at least have found a socially useful niche for herself, at last.

Life isn't fair but it is soothing to think of the mortifying public exposure that may still be ahead as Sandie's personal claims against Fife staff move forward.

Let's hope that while she does this, she remembers and educates on the legislation designed to protect the safety, dignity and privacy of her female students and the women they will care for in their careers - because her knowledge on this seems strangely lacking for someone with her background.

This might be interesting for Carol. She has been able to distance herself from changing rooms as a CEO but as a PT she will be in gym changing rooms with the general public. She may have to face up to the consequences of erosion of single sex boundaries if her gym is TRA friendly. Karma

Weird; a few hours later, I also don't have an autoreply to my repeated email, and I've checked the address (and my spam, though I use gmail and sometimes it aggressively rejects mail it considers spam so much that I don't see it). Ah well, time will tell, I'm not worrying about this any more.
