NHS England interim trans policy

NHS England has finally (I think yesterday) published "Interim changes to our Trans Equality Policy and Procedures". It states that "whilst we develop an updated policy, trans colleagues should use single sex facilities of their biological sex or a single lockable facility".

This seems like a big step forwards on ensuring safe spaces for biological women. I hope that I am right!

Regardless of whether this is true or not (spoiler alert, it isn't), the policy refers to all facilities. The trans rights brigade focus is always on toilets because it's seen as something that can be trivialised.

I honestly wouldn't engage with him. His intention is to derail the thread and he's a frequent flyer so it has happened a lot.

Fair enough! They seem pretty clueless about it all as they've made two embarrassing mistakes in one post!

Good to discuss with people who are clued up.

Gosh, that takes a lot of thinking about - they are right to say how complex and complicated it is... I can see why it's taken so long to draft with all those subtleties.

IKR?

All that wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Men in the men's, women in the women's. (That includes you MashaPav.)

Yes, he is not one of the finest minds they send here to school us

I do actually wonder what the average member of the public thinks when they've been told it's so incredibly complicated that the best legal bods need to work on it for years, then they see... this

This does seem positive, but why is it interim? It is clear what they need to do to be compliant with the law.

Maybe they’re just breaking them in gently.

Of course microbiologists aren’t that keen about unisex toilets in hospitals. I think having the toilet flush dump its plume over the sink and dryer in a self contained mixed sex toilet isn’t that great. There’s another microbiologist I follow who swabs hand dryers in toilets. Her results are quite alarming.

And yet there’s no evidence that trans women are a threat to women in toilets. No one enters your toilet cubicle it gets locked, simple right? We need to go gender neutral to end this nonsense.

Edited

Bet you'd enjoy having men piss all over the seat and floor. You sound like you've never been on an intercontinental flight where unisex accommodation can be experienced in all its glories
