OK, you might not agree with the peerage system, I understand that. But does it say something about how much women’s contribution to our society is valued that they couldn’t even find 13 intelligent, articulate, involved and socially aware women with proven track records to offer peerages to.

It’s a boys club still. I think peerage is inherently an unfair system. But I also think this is where devolution is going wrong- no second house to scrutinise things. I don’t agree that the government du jour should have any say in who is in the second house though. Idk whether the second house should be elected but there has to be a better system than waiting for an MP to notice you (or befriending one).
