Yazidi woman Fawzia Amin Sido gives an account to the UN of her capture aged ten by Islamic State, abuse, sale to Hamas fighter in Gaza, and recent freedom.

Content warning, CSA, violence, abuse.

Brave woman. May she find peace and support.

I read an article about her and what happened to her some time ago. It was beyond harrowing. I can't express how much respect I have for her strength, both in surviving what she went through, and now in speaking out about it.

Also: what's been done to her people: now that is literal genocide.

Yes. Speaking up about it is astonishingly brave.

openly sold or handed over into sexual slavery as "gifts" to IS members

It will never not be astonishing to me that a group claiming to be religious and righteous has sex slaves.

ArabellaScott · 30/06/2026 10:05

child sex slaves, no less.

It is very hard to grasp how anyone could ever attempt to rationalise or justify this.

Doubt that the pro-palestine will be reading this, but in case there are:

Child sex slaves are being held in Gaza for the use of Hamas fighters

It is, but I’m sure some would.

I can see that and be horrified and still think that the treatment of Palestine is vile

I believe that Isreal should leave Palestine still.

There's nothing to rationalise or justify when you believe that women and girls are literally there just for that: to be used by men, including sexually. Yes, it's a psychopathic way of thinking, but there are loads of psychopathic men out there, who create and join ad hoc psychopathic religious sects.

It’s so horrific.

I saw a clip of the UN woman just blanking the
pain of Ilana Gritzewsky. Here

Ilana Gritzewsky, an Israeli citizen and former Hamas hostage held in Gaza for 55 days, directly confronted Reem Alsalem, the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, regarding her previous claims that there was no independent evidence of sexual violence on 7 October.

During the session, Gritzewsky recounted her harrowing captivity, stating: "I am the living proof of sexual violence by Hamas". She directly asked Alsalem, "Do you believe us now? Will you apologise?

and no she didn’t.

You do understand why there is a war on?

I think ISIS consider the Yazidi (and all infidel) to be non-human and as such they can treat them anyway they like and it’s not a sin. Also remember that this kind of sex is about power and dominance, there are many twisted justifications for it, but no matter which way you look at it the men who do it are lower than vermin.

They'll be along shortly calling them Freedom Fighters.

The thing is (for me), it is not just about the rights of the women, girls, boys getting abused. Maybe ISIS do consider them non-human, and that treating them badly is not a sin.

But it is also a question of one's own morality - sexually abusing a person, animal, or indeed any sentient being shows that the abuser is morally bankrupt, and if they consider this abuse justified then their ideology is degenerate.

I saw that on YouTube, her pain was palpable, the silent indifference of the UN woman, even when asked directly, and repeatedly to at least acknowledge her, was reprehensible.

I am not sure that computes at all. A society capable of keeping child sex slaves is pretty low on my priorities for succour and aid.

Ik it was horrendous. I saw it on IG. I hope more see it.

BrownBookshelf · Today 07:24

It's so unfortunate. Reem Alsalem is excellent on women's sex based rights, but has a huge blind spot when it comes to the abuse of women by Palestinian men. She's previously written about forced marriage and rape of Yazidi women elsewhere, so it must be the fact that this happened in Gaza and the woman would still be there if the IDF hadn't rescued her that's the problem.

YourAmplePlumPoster · Today 08:13

This is what doe eyed Shamima Begum was involved in, who people are keen to bring back to the UK. I can't imagine being so brainwashed that you participate in these kind of crimes.
